Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are those who believe that professionals for instance doctor's and engineer's workplace must be limited to the country they underwent their training from while many believe that they are free to choose their workplace. I think that while it is beneficial for a country if a talented indiviual choose to work on their home country, they should be given the freedom to choose where they want to work.

Many under developed countries have shortage of talented indiviuals. These countries suffer from lack of professionals from highly technical background such as qualified doctors or engineers. So, the development of these countries come to a stalemate due to lack of professinals. So, the talented indiviual that emerges from these countries must help their countries in development. A professional doctor can treat thousands of patients in a small area which and make their lives better. Engineers can build roads and structures for the betterment of an area which eventually will benefit the whole nation.

On the other hand, talented indiviuals may suffer from many issues that might make them not want to help their homeland. Indiviuals may not find proper equipment or more suitable people to make use of their skills. In addition, corruption is one the most common reason a person may not want to work in a specific area. For example, a doctor maay help a small village for free but that might harm the business of quacks and they might form a gang and get rid of the doctor. Also the pay is a huge concern for these professionals as they might want a better life for themselves.

In conclusion, people might argue that professinals should help their country advance with their skills but it might not always be possible due to several faactors. In my opinion, whether these professionals choose to work in their own country or in any other place its completely up to them and we should respect their decision rather than force our own views on them

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country, and that they should have the freedom to work elsewhere—while also clearly stating a personal opinion. The writer develops relevant ideas, such as the shortage of skilled professionals in developing nations and the legitimate personal reasons why individuals might leave, including safety concerns and better compensation. Although some supporting arguments could be extended further, the position remains clear throughout the essay. The task is fully addressed, earning a Band 7.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing contrasting viewpoints, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader. However, referencing and transitions are at times slightly repetitive or mechanical, such as the repeated use of 'So' at the start of sentences in the second paragraph. Overall, the organizational structure is logical and easy to follow, supporting a Band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items like 'stalemate', 'betterment', and 'corruption'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'doctor's and engineer's' instead of plural nouns, 'indiviual' and 'indiviuals' misspelled, and 'faactors'. Furthermore, collocation is occasionally awkward, such as 'underwent their training from'. While these inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching the higher bands, placing it solidly at a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause sentences. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation, apostrophe misuse ('doctor's and engineer's'), and prepositions ('work on their home country'). There are also occasional agreement and article errors, such as 'is one the most common reason'. While complex structures are attempted, they often carry minor inaccuracies. Because errors occur consistently throughout the response without heavily obstructing meaning, this performance aligns well with Band 6.0 descriptors.
