Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The student addresses both views regarding professionals working in their training country versus abroad, and attempts to offer an opinion, touching on reasons such as economic development and lack of local jobs. However, the response falls severely short of the length requirement, containing only 173 words instead of the minimum 250. Because the text is significantly under-length, ideas are noticeably under-developed and lack the necessary extension and support required for higher bands. Consequently, the task response is incomplete, which heavily restricts the band score under the official guidelines for under-length responses.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text suffers from poor paragraphing and a lack of logical progression. The response is divided into only two short blocks of text, making it difficult to follow the transition between discussing the two opposing views and the writer's personal opinion. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'In the other side' instead of 'On the other hand', and repetitive referencing like 'there countries' instead of 'their countries' disrupts the flow of ideas. While there is a rudimentary attempt to group related concepts, the overall organization fails to maintain a clear, cohesive structure throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The lexical range is very limited and repetitive. The student uses basic vocabulary and makes frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'belive' for believe, 'them self' for themselves, 'creat' for create, and confusing 'there', 'their', and 'they're' consistently. There are also unnatural collocations like 'bringing brain from others countries'. While simple meaning is sometimes conveyed, these noticeable lexical errors and the lack of less common vocabulary items restrict the score to this level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are persistent punctuation and capitalization issues, such as spacing errors around commas ('Nowadays , countries'). Clauses are often awkwardly joined, as seen in 'This two opinions is depending on place and time, Some countries didn't offer needed goal...'. Subject-verb agreement errors and tense inconsistencies are common, which frequently impede the reader's understanding and demonstrate weak control over basic sentence construction.
