Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that professionals like doctors and engineers, should remain in the country where they completed their qualification. Others maintain they should be not be restricted to work in another if they wish. In this essay, I will discuss both the views and further provide my opion on the topic. doctors and engineers should get to work in any part of the world because of the global demand for doctors and engineers

On one side, the demand of doctors and engineers are worldwide. While the doctors help in saving lifes of people, engineers are needed for technological and infrastructure advancments. Both the professions have a huge impact on the quality of peoples' life. However, not every country have the infrastructure to produce doctors and engineers. Since their roles are so crucial in every society they should be allowed to work in any country they wish to.

On the other side, to become a qualified doctor or engineer, it takes about five years. During that period, the students need top notch facilities and faculty members, which requires a lot of investment. If a nation is investing so much capital to provide the amenties for students to become doctors and engineers, it will be unfair to the nation if they decide to leave. Lastly, I still believe if the country has sufficient of number of doctors and engineers to serve the population then they should have the freewill to practice in any part of the wolrd.

In conclusion, I strongly believe a country should not stop doctors and

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that professionals should work where trained versus the freedom to work internationally—and presents a personal opinion, albeit incomplete due to the abrupt ending. The student attempts to explore the economic investment of training alongside global humanitarian demands. However, some ideas are repetitive, such as stating that doctors and engineers are needed globally. The position is somewhat disjointed because the conclusion trails off mid-sentence ("In conclusion, I strongly believe a country should not stop doctors and"). Despite this truncation, the main body paragraphs sufficiently present arguments for both sides, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a generally coherent arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, introducing sides of the argument with transitional markers such as "On one side" and "On the other side." However, cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical. For instance, referencing is occasionally imprecise ("Both the professions", "the amenties"), and the abrupt end of the essay severely disrupts the overall flow and progression of the conclusion. Paragraphing is initiated properly, but the lack of a finished concluding paragraph pulls down the organisational score. Overall, the structure reflects Band 5.5 characteristics due to the incomplete conclusion and mechanical transitional devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms like "infrastructure," "investment," "qualification," and "technological." However, there are several lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as "lifes" instead of "lives," "advancments," "country have" instead of "country has," and "sufficient of number." Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success and some spelling inaccuracies. Because these errors do not severely impede overall communication, the lexical resource fits comfortably within the Band 5.5 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures and dependent clauses (e.g., "If a nation is investing so much capital..."). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as "to work in another [country] if they wish," "the demand of doctors... are worldwide," and "provide the amenties." Punctuation errors and missing words also occur throughout the text. Because the grammar contains noticeable errors that occasionally require the reader to re-read, but still communicates the core message, a Band 5.5 is awarded.
