Student answer (Band 6.0)

Young professional workers are always an assest for the country. While some individuals argue that white collar workers (doctors and engineers) should follow the profession in their own nation where they did their studies, others reckon that they have rights to work in any country where they want. This essay will discuss both viewpoint before presenting a valid prespective.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why professionals should be invest their time and work in the country where they had their qualifications. The prominent reason is that they play a crucial role for the developement of their home country. In other words, if doctors and engineers work in their country, this leads to new innovations and well-being of the nation public. For example, in China, 50% of innovations are take place in their own country because of their engineers. Secondly, this boosts the economy of their own nation. Therefore, professional workers contribute in the GDP of their country, this helps in the economic growth.

On the other hand, individuals should have right to work in any other nation where they want to pursue their future. The first and foremost reason is that this assists opportunity to workers to acquire experience of new technologies. To explain it, the developed countries are the most innovative and this give them experience to build their mind or learn things in more innovative manner. Thus, this is also beneficial for the development of home country as they learn about new technologies and invest knowledge in their country.

In my opinion, professionals should be free to take advantages of other country after completing their qualification but they should be advance their country's technology by taking knowledge or experience from advanced nation. To exemplify, US is one the most tech-based country and other developing countries accept and develop new innovations.

In conclusion, doctors and engineers should have responsibility to work in the country where they did training for the development and well-being of the nation because government invests infrastrusture and scholarships for their studies and training. While professionals should be free to work in another nation as it helps provide knowledge to their home country for the betterment of technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country and that they should be free to work abroad—and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the economic contributions and technological gains for developing nations. However, there is a slight contradiction in the conclusion, where the student shifts to emphasizing the moral obligation to stay due to government investment in education, which slightly muddies the final stance. Nevertheless, the main arguments are adequately developed and relevant examples are provided, aligning well with the Band 6.5 to 7.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into distinct paragraphs with a clear overall progression. The student uses standard cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure of the essay. However, referencing is sometimes imprecise, and paragraphing in the conclusion introduces a new argument (government investment in infrastructure) that has not been previously discussed, which disrupts the logical flow. Additionally, minor spacing and punctuation issues appear throughout the text. Overall, the organization is coherent and sufficient for a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic essay, including terms like 'innovations,' 'economic growth,' and 'technologies.' However, there are notable word choice and spelling errors, such as 'assest' instead of asset, 'developement' instead of development, and awkward phrasing like 'follow the profession' or 'take advantages of other country.' While the student demonstrates a sufficient range to communicate the main points clearly, these lexical inaccuracies prevent the writing from achieving a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. The student attempts complex structures, but these frequently contain grammatical errors, such as 'if doctors and engineers work in their country, this leads to' and 'innovations are take place.' There are also issues with prepositions and articles, such as 'in the GDP' instead of 'to the GDP' and 'US is one the most tech-based country.' These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause strain for the reader, though they do not completely impede overall communication, reflecting the characteristics of Band 5.5.
