Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
While some argue that professionals, like doctors and engineers should work in the country where they did their intern or training others contend they should choose to work wherever they want in any country. This essay will discuss both views before concluding with my own opinion.
To begin with, Some professionals become used to the place where they did their training. When people start to work at a place where they had already spent time then it helps them to work easily. For example, when doctors complete their internship or training in a particular hospital then they will know almost everything about the hospital like senior doctors, type of wards, services, etc. As a result, they can work in that hospital more efficiently and provide better service.
While proponents argue professionals should be free to work in another country because doing so allows them to make their own career choices while also gaining valuable knowledge and experience. After spending years studying and training , professionals should be allowed to decide which country offers the best opportunities and quality of life for them. Furthermore, working in a different country helps them learn new skills, gain valuable experience and develop better understanding of their profession.
In conclusion, although some people believe that professionals should work in the country where they received their training, I believe they should be free to work in a different country if they wish, as this allows them to broaden their knowledge, gain valuable experience, and make their own carrer choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work where they trained and that they should be free to work anywhere—and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as doctors knowing hospital layouts and senior staff to work more efficiently. However, some arguments remain slightly under-developed and could be extended with further depth or broader examples regarding engineers or other professions to fully reach a higher band. Overall, the student maintains a clear position throughout, fulfilling the basic requirements of Task Achievement adequately for a Band 6.5 or 7.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression with a traditional introductory, body, and concluding paragraph structure. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as "To begin with," "While proponents argue," and "In conclusion." However, referencing and transitions are at times a bit mechanical or repetitive, and there are punctuation errors around linking phrases. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives. To improve further, the writer could use more sophisticated and varied cohesive links rather than relying on standard formulaic transitions, placing the response firmly within the Band 6.0 to 6.5 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with attempts at less common phrasing such as "efficiently," "proponents," and "quality of life." However, there is some repetition of basic words (e.g., "work," "training," "country") and a notable spelling error in the final sentence ("carrer"). Word choices are mostly functional rather than precise, reflecting a typical Band 6 performance where the writer has enough range to communicate their ideas but occasionally stumbles with collocation and spelling precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. There are successful complex structures, such as concessive clauses starting with "While some argue that..." and conditional/temporal clauses. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as "doctors and engineers should work in the country where they did their intern or training" (missing article/noun form) and missing commas before coordinating conjunctions in compound elements. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent the grammar score from rising above a Band 6.
