Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been a topic of dicussion among many people whether various professionals for instance, doctors or engineers should continue their internships and practice for their career growth in the same country from where they have graduated whereas some people argue that they should follow their instincts of either moving to any foreign country or staying in the homeland, totally depends on one's own choice.

On the one hand, many individuals believe that one should be serving his own homeland rather than selling his skills in an unknown territory. We should have patriotism as well as fondness of aiding our own community first where we have grown and become successful. Getting the licence or registartion is quite easy. We must take adequate steps to help in the economical growth of our nation which will also brightens our future. Doctors from Pakistan performing liver or kidney transplants in foreign countries are marked more competent.

On the other hand, various people tends to believe that if a person wanted to pursue his career internationally, he must consider any available opportunity. However, the registration and licensing process may consume time and is expensive in other regions. Similalry, if one wanted to continue in his country it must be solely his own's choice. Many developing countries lack opportunities for learning advance technologies, negligible capital for development and lesser positions in departments. These factors creates a sense of demotivation and stress. For this reason, professionals struggles to avail better options like moving to a developed country instead could enhace their skills and encourages them to excel in the future.

I agree with the idea that a person should prefer his comfort zone and mental peace firstly. Secondly, looking upon his finacial stability he must took decision either staying in the homeland or commuting to other area would be beneficial for him in the long run or not. Apparently, residing in other countries is costly and time-consuming too. One should act according to his own thoughts.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country and that they should be free to work abroad—while also providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant arguments, such as the lack of advanced technologies in developing countries and the financial considerations involved. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise slightly, and some supporting points could be more fully developed with specific examples. For instance, mentioning Pakistani doctors performing transplants is somewhat isolated. Overall, the task is successfully fulfilled, earning a Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, with the introduction followed by well-signposted body paragraphs ('On the one hand', 'On the other hand') and a concluding statement. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, although there are some mechanical or awkward transitions, such as 'Similalry, if one wanted to continue in his country it must be solely his own's choice.' Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the contrasting viewpoints and the final stance. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional mechanical cohesive links prevent it from reaching a higher band. This corresponds to a Band 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'patriotism', 'economical growth', 'competent', and 'financial stability'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'dicussion', 'registartion', 'brightens' (instead of brighten), and 'finacial'. Furthermore, phrases like 'selling his skills' and 'took decision' show awkward collocations. While these vocabulary errors and inaccuracies do not impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as conditional and relative clauses ('if a person wanted to pursue his career internationally, he must consider any available opportunity'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('various people tends to believe', 'factors creates') and tense inconsistencies ('if one wanted to continue... it must be'). Although these errors do not impede overall communication, they demonstrate inconsistent control over complex grammatical structures, placing the essay firmly at Band 6.0.
