Student answer (Band 5.5)

The growing influence of professionals in modern society has sparked various dabates. Some people argue that professionals should be needed to job in the country where they did their training. Others think that they should be free to work in another nation if they want. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my opinion with some suitable examples.

On the one hand, some say that they should be needed to work their own country. If people are working their own country, so it is very beneficial for local people. Moreover, people will not need to wait for specialist doctors in governoment hospitals, because a large numbers of docotors avaliable all time in hospital. For example, China is a most developing country, because their perofessionals do not working in other countries.

On the other hand, these people should be freedom to work in another country. The first main reason is that they get more salaries from other nations, government get tax from their when they send money on their country. These tax are help to better the economic of country. A second benefit is that people can learn a lot of new things from other countries, they get knowledge about their culture as well as language. Moreover, after geting the important experience in there field, they can start their own business in their country.

In conclusion, both points have their own merits. However, I believe that they should be free to job in other countries are more beneficial for people and government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether professionals should work where they trained and offering a personal opinion. The writer's position is clear in the introduction and conclusion. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack full development. For example, the argument that China is a 'most developing country' because professionals stay is factually unsupported and under-developed. Similarly, the points regarding taxation and cultural learning are introduced without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. While the task is adequately addressed to fulfill the basic requirements, the depth of reasoning places it firmly at a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level. Stronger expansion of ideas would elevate this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to signpost the progression of ideas. However, paragraphing and referencing are sometimes faulty. For instance, the transition 'If people are working their own country, so it is very beneficial' contains awkward referencing ('so') and lacks smooth logical flow. Additionally, pronoun reference in the third paragraph is occasionally confusing, such as 'government get tax from their when they send money on their country'. Overall arrangement is coherent, but the execution of cohesive devices is mechanical, aligning with Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas related to the topic, but it suffers from frequent inaccuracies and repetition. The student attempts less common items such as 'professionals', 'specialist', and 'economic', but encounters significant word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'dabates' instead of 'debates', 'job' used as a verb instead of 'work', and 'governoment hospitals'. Furthermore, phrases like 'a large numbers of docotors avaliable all time' contain multiple spelling and grammatical word-form errors. The lexical range is limited and frequently strains the reader's understanding, reflecting Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses ('If people are working their own country...') and relative clauses. However, control over grammar is weak, with frequent errors in verb forms, articles, and prepositions throughout the text. Examples include 'professionals should be needed to job', 'after geting the important experience in there field', and 'free to job in other countries are more beneficial'. These frequent errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate that simple structures are handled much better than complex ones, placing this criterion at Band 5.0.
