Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding whether professionals should work in their home countries or abroad, and provides a concluding personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the reasons given for staying in the home country focus simplistically on "homely food" and returning home easily, while the view supporting working abroad relies on a brief, informal personal anecdote about a friend working at TCS. The arguments are under-developed and lack the depth expected for an academic discussion, aligning the response with Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, following a basic introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is weak and ideas do not flow logically. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repeatedly, such as starting multiple sentences with "For example" or "As a result" (e.g., "As a result, training people try to work..." and "As a result, i suggest..."). Furthermore, paragraphing is basic, and referencing is occasionally unclear, which places the response firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on general paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like "people," "work," "training," and "country." There are noticeable word-choice errors, such as "homely food" instead of "home-cooked food," "abroad countries," and "setteld." Spelling errors like "requried" and "intrest" also occur. The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, but frequent inaccuracies and a lack of less common lexical items restrict the score to Band 4.5, rounded up to 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, but grammatical accuracy is very low. Frequent errors occur throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., "professionals work is very important", "experts... is very essential"), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., "experts, such as doctors and engineers, they should be requried"). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent, such as lowercase "i" and erratic capitalization of proper nouns like "The United Kingdom." These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
