Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country and that they should be free to work abroad—and provides the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, when discussing the home country view, the writer mentions boosting economic development and investing in education, but the supporting examples are brief and lack depth. Similarly, the discussion on working abroad touches on better opportunities, skills, and salaries, but remains somewhat general. To achieve a higher band, the ideas would need to be extended with more specific explanations and concrete real-world examples. Nevertheless, the core requirements of the task are met adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is arranged into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs discussing each perspective, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, the use of cohesive elements is at times mechanical or awkward, such as 'To explain with, if professional workers preference work in own country it benefits like boost economic development'. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but referencing and logical flow between sentences can occasionally be disjointed, such as abrupt transitions within the body paragraphs. Overall, the organization provides a coherent structure, earning a solid Band 6.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to the topic such as 'economic development', 'professional workers', 'healthcare departments', and 'facilities and income'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'choose study in abroad' instead of 'choose to study abroad', 'whille' for 'while', 'promiment' for 'prominent', 'preference work' for 'prefer to work', and 'saleries' for 'salaries'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they demonstrate limitations in lexical precision and word formation that prevent the response from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures like 'if professional workers preference work in own country it benefits like boost...' and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in tense, article usage, prepositions, and verb patterns. Examples include 'Most of the individuals choose study', 'it has their own choise', 'in another countries', and 'travel expensis'. Punctuation is also erratic in places, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'consideration,I'). While some sentences are successfully constructed, the high frequency of grammatical slips means that error-free sentences are not in the majority, placing the performance firmly in the Band 5 category.
