Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern world, individuals argued that skilled professionals like doctors and engineers should stay in country and provide their services inside country while other thinks that they should be set free to choose their own decision to work abroad. In my opinion, I believe that allowing them to move outside helps them to learn different culture and also provide better understanding of different technologies around world.

On the one side, professionals worker stayed inside country can helps country with better lifestyle and good medical treatment. Engineers reside and work here can help country to growth economically and also developed infrastructure however doctors can help by giving people better treatment and providing healthy lifestyle in country. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt by discussing the views on whether professionals should work locally or be free to move, and it includes a personal opinion in the introduction. However, the essay is incomplete, abruptly cutting off at the end of the final paragraph due to failing the word count requirement of at least 250 words, as it stands at only 231 words. Consequently, ideas are under-developed, particularly the conclusion and the supporting arguments. Examples provided, such as income comparisons in India and the US, are relevant, but the overall task is only partially fulfilled due to the truncation and insufficient development. Therefore, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organizational structure with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a truncated concluding thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but transitions and cohesive devices are frequently mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'On the one side' and 'On the other side'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, for example using ambiguous pronouns like 'this people' instead of 'these people'. Progression is hindered by the abrupt ending, but overall, the arrangement shows some logical sequence of ideas, placing it at a band 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'infrastructure', 'economically', and 'migrated', but demonstrates noticeable limitations and lexical errors throughout the text. Examples of awkward word choices and collocation errors include 'professionals worker stayed inside country', 'developed countires', and 'Doctors anually income'. Spelling and word formation mistakes also occur, such as 'indiviual' and 'oubutside'. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the general topic, errors in word choice and form cause some difficulty, justifying a band score of 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'individuals argued' instead of 'argue', 'stay in country', 'Engineer reside and work here can help country to growth', and 'if they moved to US can possibly earn aroung'. Punctuation is also problematic in places, and the unfinished final sentence demonstrates a lack of structural completion. These frequent errors occasionally impede communication, placing the response at a band 5.0.
