Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the past centuries, professionals have limited options to do work on other places because of limited technology. It is often argued that experts should work in the country where they get trained. Others believe that they should be independent to do work where they want. I will explain both views and give my opinion with some reasons and examples.

Firstly, some people believe that workers should work in any corner of world. It will be very helpful to build confidence. When they work abroad, they may have sense of independence. For example, if experts going abroad for work, they have chance to communicate with other workers. They feel that they are not working under any rules and regulations, they feel free and acheive good experience and confidence to do work by their own. Secondly, they can earn handsome salaries. For instance, if their requirements do not meet with their needs, so they have chance to move in other country to earn good salary.

However, some people believe that doctors and engineers should be required to work in the country where they did their training. Firstly, they believe that it is proved to be very helpful for them to work under supervision of their trainer. For example, if some students who specialiazed in their field and recently completed their specialization, should work in that hospital where they get training. Their seniors will help them by improving their mistakes. Furthermore, if professionals get reward in their work, they can represent the name of their country. For instance, Dr Abdul-Qadir is most famous person in physics, who did their work in their own country instead of moving abroad.

In my own opinion, experts should not be rquired to work in country, where they did their training. They must have free will to do work. Although they work according to their wish, they may have chance to improve their experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views (working abroad versus working in the training country) and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as gaining confidence, earning higher salaries, and receiving supervision from trainers. However, some arguments are under-developed and lack depth. For instance, the example of Dr Abdul-Qadir is somewhat confused regarding physics and working in one's own country. While the main task requirements are met, the support for ideas tends to be somewhat repetitive rather than fully extended, placing this response securely at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs representing different views, and the conclusion appropriately. Basic cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However'. Nevertheless, referencing and logical transitions are at times mechanical or faulty. For example, the transition 'Furthermore, if professionals get reward in their work...' lacks a smooth logical bridge to the preceding sentence about training supervision. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better linking to achieve a Band 7 level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'regulations', 'specialization', and 'independent'. There are, however, several noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'do work on other places' instead of 'work in other places', 'acheive good experience', and 'free will'. Spelling and word formation errors also appear, like 'specialiazed' and 'rquired'. Because these errors do not seriously impede communication, the response aligns well with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors, earning a 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional structures like 'if experts going abroad for work, they have chance to communicate'. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, featuring frequent errors such as omitted articles ('move in other country', 'under supervision of their trainer'), tense inconsistencies, and fragments ('For example, if some students who specialiazed in their field and recently completed their specialization, should work...'). While simple sentences are generally clear, complex structures frequently contain errors that cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
