Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response falls below the required 232 words, failing the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts task achievement. While the student attempts to discuss both views regarding professionals working in their home country versus abroad, the ideas are presented in a very simplistic and repetitive manner. The discussion touches upon motivations for migration, such as better salaries in European countries compared to Asian countries, but lacks depth and proper extension. Furthermore, the writer's position is somewhat unclear and obscured by run-on structures. Due to the under-length penalty and underdeveloped ideas, this response meets the criteria for Band 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Coherence and cohesion are severely compromised in this response. The entire text consists of a single, continuous, unbroken run-on sentence spanning 232 words without any punctuation or paragraph breaks. There are no clear organizational patterns, logical sequencing, or paragraphing. Basic cohesive devices are either absent or misused, resulting in a text where information and ideas are not arranged coherently. This clearly aligns with Band 3.0 descriptors, though a Band 4 is awarded as the overall flow follows a loose train of thought from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, limited, and repetitive throughout the essay. The student relies on elementary terms such as 'doctor', 'engineers', 'country', and 'money'. There are numerous spelling errors across common words, including 'proffesion', 'syrgical', 'spechlist', 'counry', 'proudi', 'eran', 'camaring', 'slearis', 'expencise', and 'engieenire'. These lexical limitations and frequent spelling mistakes strain the reader and reflect a vocabulary range typical of Band 4.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

Grammatically, the response is extremely weak. The complete absence of punctuation—such as periods, commas, and capitalisation—means there is no control over sentence boundaries, resulting in a single massive run-on sentence. There is no variety of complex structures; instead, simple clauses are endlessly strung together with conjunctions like 'and' and 'because'. Frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('doctor is... their are') and incorrect pronoun usage, distort meaning and cause significant difficulty for the reader, placing the response firmly at Band 4.0.
