Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether doctors and engineers should work in their home countries or abroad, but the ideas are limited and under-developed. While the writer touches on the importance of these professionals and mentions poor people and government projects, the position is not always clear, and the arguments are repetitive and tangential. Sentences such as 'doctors and engineers should free work in some time of every day because poor people helped' fail to fully explore both views in a structured manner. To move forward, the writer needs to clearly separate the two opposing views, provide extended reasoning for each perspective, and present a distinct personal opinion supported by relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response displays some organization with basic paragraph breaks, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, repetitive, or inaccurate, which disrupts the flow of the text. For instance, transitional phrases like 'Firstly,' 'secondly,' 'Further more,' and 'To conclude' are used, but the internal connections between sentences are often faulty, making the referencing unclear (e.g., 'because that people not stable for check-up'). Paragraphing is also misused, as body paragraphs contain a jumble of unrelated points about government projects and poor relief without a unifying theme. To improve, the writer should ensure each paragraph focuses on a single clear idea and use logical links to connect sentences smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used throughout the essay is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'professional,' 'country,' 'government,' and 'people.' There are frequent errors in word choice, word form, and collocation that strain the reader's understanding, such as using 'worker of engineers' instead of 'engineers' or 'free work' instead of 'voluntary work' or 'freedom to work.' Spelling and lexical control are weak, with instances like 'dificults' and awkward phrases like 'spend happily life.' To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, learn correct word forms, and practice using less common lexical items accurately in appropriate contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and heavily flawed sentence structures. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text, such as 'The professionals of doctor and engineers is required' and 'The government should made for campus.' Attempts at complex sentences are consistently faulty, often resulting in meaning being distorted or obscured by incorrect prepositions and clause structures. Punctuation is also erratic. To improve in this area, the writer needs to focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring correct subject-verb agreement, accurate verb tenses, and mastering the foundations of simple and compound sentences before attempting more complex structures.
