Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different views regarding the place of professional's work. Some proponents argue that doctors and engineers should serve their own country from where they got education, while others argue that they should be free to work where they want either in own country or in foreign state. I strongly believe that professionals should get choice to choose the country to work according to their wish. This essay will discuss both views before explaining my opinion.

On the one hand, it is argued that qualified doctors and engineers should be required to work in the nation from where they did their training. It will bring numerous significant benefits for the country. As a person is getting medical degree from a country he should do job their to serve own country. Consequently it will help to provide high quality treatment to the residents of the country. For instance, when a student graduates from Pakistani university and he gets training from there. He should do job there for the betterment of society. Moreover, it provides opportunity to live with their families.

On the other hand, some proponents claim that individuals should keep free to decide where they want to build their future. From my stand point, everyone has right to select the desired place for their work. If a person will bound to work in same country and he really doesn't want to do job there he will not work accurately. As a result, it will reduce the productivity. Furthermore, if a person will work in foreign countries he will get chance to explore different culture, and learn new techniques which will broadens their knowledge. Additionally, when person lives alone in other country he will become self dependent which is a positive outcome.

In conclusion, although to work in same state from where graduated have several benefits for the country, to do job in other nations benefits both society and the worker as it helps to learn new techniques which a professional can use in future to serve for his own country. I think individuals should have choice to select the state to work. Consequently, it will enhance the productivity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country and that they should be free to work abroad—and presents a clear personal position throughout. However, some ideas are under-developed rather than fully extended. For instance, the argument about a Pakistani graduate helping society is relevant, but it remains brief and lacks further supporting explanation. The overall progression is visible, and the main arguments are clear, but pushing towards higher bands would require deeper elaboration of examples and consequences, particularly in the discussion regarding the economic or societal impacts of professional mobility.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a logical division into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing the opposing views and your stance, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to guide the reader, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion'. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, referencing is occasionally repetitive or vague, such as the transition 'As a person is getting medical degree from a country he should do job there', where the connection between sentences could flow more naturally. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but tighter logical links between sentences are needed to ensure a smoother progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the main arguments regarding professional employment and migration. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'proponents', 'productivity', and 'self dependent', but these are accompanied by some inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'place of professional's work' instead of 'where professionals should work', and 'keep free' instead of 'remain free'. Additionally, minor morphological errors such as 'broadens' instead of 'broaden' appear. While these issues do not impede communication, they reflect a restricted precision and flexibility that prevent the vocabulary from reaching a higher level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses ('If a person will bound to work in same country...') and relative clauses. However, there are notable errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly concerning verb forms, tenses, and prepositions. Examples include future tense misuse in conditionals ('If a person will bound... and he really doesn't want... he will not work'), article omissions ('in foreign countries', 'in same country'), and pronoun-antecedent inconsistencies. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication, and the meaning of the sentences remains generally clear. To improve, the writer needs to exercise greater control over complex sentence patterns and conditional phrasing.
