Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, many people belive that, professionals like doctos engineers and scientst should work in the country where they compeleted their degrees. However, others beleive that they should be free to do work in any country. I strongly believe that they should be free to do where they want. The reason behind this will be discussed in upcoming paragraph.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why trained professionals should work in the country where they received their education. First, governments often spend a large amount of public money on universities, hospitals and professional training. Therefore, it can be argued that professionals have a responsibility to contribute to the country that supported their education. For example, if a government provides subsidised medical training to doctors, these doctors could be expected to work in local hospitals for a certain period after completing their studies. This could help countries maintain sufficient numbers of skilled workers and provide essential services to their citizens.
On the other hand, professionals should have the right to work in another country because they may have better career opportunities abroad. Doctors and engineers can develop their skills by working with advanced technology, gaining international experience and earning higher salaries. In addition, people should generally be allowed to decide where they want to live and work. For instance, an engineer may receive an attractive job offer from a foreign company that provides better training and opportunities for career development. Preventing such a person from moving abroad could limit their professional growth.
In conclusion, although trained professionals can make an important contribution to the country where they studied, they should not be forced to remain there permanently. A limited period of service could be a reasonable balance between the needs of governments and the career freedom of professionals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that professionals should work in their home country and that they should be free to move—while presenting a clear personal position throughout the essay. The main ideas are generally well extended and supported, such as when discussing government investment in education and the career benefits of working abroad. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, and the conclusion introduces a new nuance about a limited period of service that bridges the two views without fully integrating it earlier in the body paragraphs. This places the task response securely at the seventh band level, as all prompt requirements are met with a consistent viewpoint.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear overall logical organization and progression throughout. Information and ideas are structured with a recognizable introduction, distinct body paragraphs handling opposing viewpoints, and a logical conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used to guide the reader, showing elements of the higher band. However, the cohesion feels somewhat mechanical at times, notably the brief introductory roadmap sentence ('The reason behind this will be discussed in upcoming paragraph') which is a formulaic template rather than a natural transitional device. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but referencing and flow could be smoother to achieve top-tier coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms such as 'subsidised medical training', 'professional development', and 'career opportunities'. There are noticeable spelling errors in the introduction and first paragraph, including 'belive', 'doctos', 'scientst', and 'compeleted', which indicate occasional slips in vocabulary mechanics and spelling. The writer attempts less common vocabulary with some degree of precision, yet occasional awkward word choices, such as 'do where they want', restrict the score to the sixth band. Communication remains clear despite these lexical and orthographic inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over relative clauses and conditional structures, such as in the sentence beginning with 'For example, if a government provides subsidised medical training...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles and plural agreement issues in the opening sentences (e.g., 'professionals like doctos engineers and scientst'), but these errors rarely impede communication. The presence of both error-free complex sentences and recurring basic slips reflects a characteristic middle-tier grammatical profile where complex structures are attempted with mixed accuracy.
