Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the same country where they did their training, while other believe that they should be free to work in another country if they wish. This essay will discuss both view and from my persepective i completely believe that professionals should be free to work in any country if they wish becasue they have freedom to choose where they will to do work.

The primary reason why some people argue that professionals should be free to work in another country because another country provide better salaries and working conditions abroad. Developed country provide better higher wages, more opportunities. For example, A doctor from india may move to London because hospitals there offer better salaries, and better opportunities. Another reasons are other counties may offer better technologies and better better work envirnoment. Developed countries can offer modern technologies and better work environment for learning and improving skills. For instances, an AI developer may move to USA for better work experiences and better opportunities to learn new skills. As a result, professionals should be free to work in another nation if they wish.

On the other hand, some people believe that professionals should be requirede to work in the same nation where they did their training. The country invest money to train and educate them. Governments often spend public money on universities and professional teachers. For example, governments may spend large amount of public money training doctors, but if they move to abroad, then local hospital may suffer to find professional doctors. Therefore, professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in the nation where they did their training.

In Conculsion, There are some reasons why professionals should work in the same nation where they did their training, I believe that doctors, engineers and other professionals should generally be free to work abroad.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both the view that professionals should stay in their training country and the view that they should be free to move, while also providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Note that 47 words were copied directly from the prompt and were not counted toward the minimum requirement. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the reasons concerning better salaries and working conditions in the second paragraph are supported with relevant examples like a doctor moving to London or an AI developer moving to the USA, fulfilling the requirements for a solid mid-level score. Conversely, the counter-argument regarding government investment and local hospital shortages in the third paragraph is somewhat repetitive and could be extended further with deeper explanation to reach higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, maintaining an identifiable progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the two competing viewpoints. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases and referencing are occasionally basic or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'For example' and 'better' in the second paragraph. Pronoun referencing and the linking between sentences lack smooth integration, meaning the text occasionally feels disjointed. To progress, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices while ensuring logical transitions are established naturally without over-relying on formulaic structures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to communicate basic arguments. The student attempts to use some less common vocabulary, such as 'professionals', 'developed countries', and 'public money', but these attempts are often accompanied by inaccuracies in word form, choice, or collocation. Examples include spelling and morphological slips like 'persepective', 'becasue', 'requirede', and 'Conculsion', alongside repetitive phrasing like 'better salaries and better opportunities' and 'better work environment'. While these lexical errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the score because the range remains limited and lacks precision and control over more sophisticated or idiomatic lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at structures like conditional or reason clauses, such as 'The primary reason why some people argue that professionals should be free to work... is because...'. However, there are noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. These include missing articles ('move to USA', 'from india'), subject-verb agreement errors ('other counties may offer', 'another reasons are'), and minor prepositional or structural awkwardness ('where they will to do work'). Although these errors rarely impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough alongside a restricted range of complex structures to prevent the writing from achieving a higher grade.
