Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the prompt partially, discussing both views regarding professionals working in their training country versus abroad, and presents a personal opinion in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is limited and under-developed throughout the body paragraphs. For example, while the writer mentions the benefit of filling local shortages and gaining better career options abroad, these points are supported with vague generalisations rather than fully extended arguments or concrete examples. The position is stated, but the overall treatment of the task remains basic and lacks the depth required for a higher level, placing this aspect of the writing firmly within the lower intermediate category.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some basic organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, indicating an attempt at a logical structure. However, there is no clear overall progression as the ideas jump between points rather than flowing smoothly. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently repetitive, mechanical, or awkward in their application, such as starting multiple sentences with 'To elaborate it,' 'To exemplify,' or 'Moving further.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs is weak, meaning the reader occasionally has to work harder to follow the intended argument. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, which pulls the structural quality down into the middle band range.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for discussing the general topic of professionals migrating or staying. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word formation, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'prefessionals', 'leisure' instead of free, 'oppournity', 'megapolis', 'forgien', and 'salries'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'scrutinize' and 'advancement', but the execution shows a lack of precision and control. Collocations are often unnatural, reflecting a restricted lexical range that stays constrained to basic and repetitive expressions throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical structures deployed show a limited range, relying heavily on simple sentences or attempts at complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are persistent, frequent errors in basic grammar, including missing or incorrect articles ('a handful of individuals', 'in forgien nation'), poor subject-verb agreement ('citizen cannot', 'their are some lack'), incorrect prepositions ('do work on other regions'), and faulty punctuation. For instance, run-on structures and incorrect comma splices appear regularly. While the meaning can generally be parsed with effort, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies across multiple sentence patterns restricts the writing to this level.
