Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response achieves a minimal treatment of the prompt, attempting to discuss both views and provide a personal perspective, though the execution remains very basic. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met, as the response contains only 218 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. The ideas presented are heavily generalized and underdeveloped, with repetitive statements rather than well-supported arguments. For instance, the discussion regarding professionals remaining in their training country lacks specific reasoning and relies on vague assertions about being familiar with the office environment. Similarly, the counterargument concerning foreign work lacks depth and clear examples. To improve, the writer must ensure the word count requirement is fully satisfied and extend each main idea with specific details, clear explanations, and relevant examples that directly address all parts of the task prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays some organizational structure with distinct paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the logical links between ideas are frequently mechanical or awkward. Cohesive devices are used in a rudimentary fashion, such as 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand', but referencing is often unclear, leaving the reader to guess connections between sentences, as seen in phrases like 'If they can do their work on training place they are already catch up with office evenviroment.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disrupted by abrupt transitions and underdeveloped thoughts. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to ensure smoother logical transitions between sentences, improve referencing so that pronouns and determiners clearly link back to previous concepts, and organize supporting ideas in a more unified, progressive manner throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used throughout the response is basic and repetitive, severely limiting the range of expression. There are noticeable lexical errors and spelling mistakes that occasionally strain the reader's understanding, such as 'dostors', 'enginners', 'loction', 'conviently', 'evenviroment', 'forein', 'adavantage', 'for instant', and 'Conseqntly'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'professionals' and 'internship', but struggles with accurate word choice, collocations, and word forms, writing phrases like 'the high professionals workers' instead of 'highly professional workers' or 'high-level professionals'. To advance to a higher level, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, learn the correct spelling and word forms of common academic terms, and focus on using precise word choices and natural collocations rather than relying on repetitive, elementary language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical structures employed are very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences and basic attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. Errors are frequent and often cause difficulty for the reader, distorting the intended meaning. Examples of grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('professionals... should be essential', 'engineers should be start work', 'who student complited'), incorrect prepositional usage ('work in they training company', 'start with begginning point'), and missing articles or incorrect plurals ('in this essay discussed both point of view'). Punctuation errors are also present, such as unnecessary commas splitting clauses incorrectly. To improve, the writer must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses and forms, improving subject-verb agreement, and reducing the frequency of structural errors across all sentence types.
