Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people argue that professionals like doctors, engineers and scientist only work in the country they have done thier practice similarly some people think that they should be allowed to work in the country they prefer. Although many professionals would work best in thier training envirourment, i belive that with right type of examination and assessments they should be able to work in the country of thier wishing.

On the one hand, skilled people work and show thier best results in place they have the most experience in. A doctors trained in Pakistan might encounter completely differend type of patients compared to United States of America. Same goes for the engineers as they might be trained to build using dfferent kind of materials and standards compared to other countries. For Example, a doctor trained in Pakistan might not have experience to treat diseases which are found only in United Kingdom.

On the other hand, many countires are facing shortages of professionals in different sectors such as healthcare, construstion and teaching. This is due to varity of resons ranging from population decline to young gentration not being intrested in these type of professions. Due to this fact, i think professionals from other countries should be allowed to work in other countries but there must be check and balances to make sure they perform according to the requirements. One way of this is to make sure every single professional coming from another country should pass some kind of assessment or test to show thier ability to work. For example, A doctor form another country need to pass 3 assesment tests before they can start practicing as resident doctor in United States of America

In conculustion, although many of people think that professionals should only work in the country they have trained in i disagree with this view because i think with right type of assesment and test professionals can work and help countries in which they are willing to work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear position: professionals should be able to work abroad if they pass appropriate assessments. The two body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including differences in patients and engineering standards, and shortages in sectors such as healthcare and construction. The examples help make the argument concrete. However, the first view is mainly explained through differences in training contexts, rather than fully discussing why professionals might be required to serve the country that trained them. The shortage argument is also broad, and the proposed assessment system could be explained further—for instance, how it would ensure competence in local regulations or practice. This covers the task well overall, but some ideas need fuller development and support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your opinion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” makes the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical, and references are occasionally unclear. For example, “Due to this fact” refers generally to the preceding discussion of shortages, while the long sentence that follows combines the cause, your position, and a qualification. The examples are relevant but could be connected more explicitly to the point they support. Use clearer transitions between claims and explanations, and divide complex reasoning into more manageable steps to make cohesion more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “professionals,” “shortages,” “sectors,” “requirements,” and “assessment,” and these choices generally communicate your ideas. There is some attempt at more specific language, such as “population decline” and “resident doctor.” However, spelling errors are noticeable throughout, including “scientist,” “thier,” “envirourment,” and “conculustion,” and several word choices or collocations are imprecise: “training environment” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “check and balances” is not the natural phrase here. The repeated use of “work” and “country” also limits flexibility. Build accuracy by proofreading spelling and learning common collocations for professional licensing and overseas employment.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including a concession in the introduction (“Although many professionals…”) and a conditional idea about assessments. The main argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make sentences harder to process. For example, “A doctors trained in Pakistan” has an article and agreement problem, while “a doctor … might not have experience to treat” needs a more complete grammatical pattern. The sentence beginning “Due to this fact” also joins several ideas without clear sentence boundaries, and capitalization and punctuation are inconsistent. Aim to produce more consistently accurate sentences before adding complexity: check articles, singular/plural agreement, and sentence boundaries, then review each complex sentence for a clear main clause.
