Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some argues that professionals, like doctors and engineers, compulsary work in the country where they accomplish their education. While other group argues professionals should have the freedom to work in any country of their wish. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my opinion.

To begin with, Some believe that professionals should work for the nation, where thay acquired knowledge has many benefits. One of them is development of nation. People with higher sentiments for their country thinks that more and more doctors, engineers, lawyers and so on will work for their own nation, the nations development will pace up with it. The professionals have the responsiblity for the development of the country so serving and working within the country will defenitly uplift the nation. For instance, developing countries like India, professionals such as doctors and engineers are required to work in their own for development of the country. while increase of brain drain might slow the growth of the country.

Furthermore, in many democratic countries professionals can make their choices of where to work and study. Some professionals choose to work outside their country, because in many countries the scarcity of such professionals exists. So such countries pay higher wages to professionals for working in their country. For better wages and growth some professionals choose to work outside the country. However, in my opinion professionals in developing countries should prioritise to work in their own country rather than working in other countries for higher wages. Its because contributing to your own country's development will eventually benefit upcoming generation.

In conclusion, some believe that professionals should work in the country where they gain the training. Others believe that they should have freedom to work wherever they want. In my perspective, professionals should priortise working for their own country rather than being greedy. Because contributing to nation's development is important for everbody.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and gives a clear personal position: you explain the case for serving the country where professionals trained, then discuss freedom to work abroad and state that professionals in developing countries should prioritise their home nation. The points about national development, shortages abroad and higher wages are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the argument for requiring graduates to stay relies mainly on general claims about patriotism and development, while the reasons professionals may leave are only briefly explained. The example of India is relevant but needs a specific illustration or clearer explanation of how compulsory service would help. To strengthen the response, develop each view with a concrete example and explain the trade-offs behind your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two main discussion paragraphs and a conclusion. Its overall progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Furthermore” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, the second body paragraph moves from freedom of choice to labour shortages and wages, then to your opinion, so the discussion and evaluation become crowded together. Some links are also unclear: “while increase of brain drain might slow the growth” does not connect smoothly to the preceding example, and “Because contributing…” is left as a separate fragment in the conclusion. Give each paragraph a more focused purpose, use clearer links between cause and consequence, and integrate the final reason into a complete sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “professionals,” “scarcity,” “higher wages,” “brain drain” and “development,” which allows you to discuss the issue. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “prioritise to work” and “contributing to your own country's development.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “higher sentiments for their country,” “the nations development will pace up,” and “work in their own for development.” Spelling errors such as “compulsary,” “responsiblity” and “defenitly” also reduce precision. Aim for natural combinations such as “a strong sense of national responsibility,” “accelerate national development” and “work in their home country,” and proofread spelling and word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the country where they gain the training” and a conditional idea about brain drain. The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “Some argues” has subject–verb disagreement, while “professionals … compulsary work” lacks a correctly formed verb phrase. In “People … thinks,” the plural subject requires a plural verb, and “the nations development will pace up with it” has an unclear sentence structure. The final “Because contributing to nation's development is important” is a fragment. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, complete clauses, articles and possessives, and check that complex sentences clearly show how their clauses relate.
