Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is a topic of discussion among many individuals whether professionals, such as doctors and engineers should work in the country where they did their training or should have a freedom to work in another country. Working in the same country provide them a sense of comfort, as they are already aware about the working culture of that particular company through the training. However, exploring different countries would eventually strengthen their knowledge and help them to learn something new which could not be possible by living in the same company. In this essay, I will discuss both the viewpoints and further explain why I believe that freedom is a crucial factor for the overall growth of the professionals.

Valuable individuals, such as doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc are important for the development of a nation. Working in the country where they did their training have a significant impact on the citizens. These professionals through training gain valuable insights into the need of local people, working culture and style of corporations and become aware about the general needs of the local people. For instance, in India, people are more comfortable to share their concerns with a native doctor rather than others. These people have trust and also a sense of understanding while approaching to the doctors because of no linguistic barrier. Although working in the same nation is beneficial, the overall growth of a professional can be hindered.

On the other hand, working in a different country can help these professionals to adapt new techniques, which they were not previously aware about. These can eventually build strong cultural morals among individuals and also strengthen relationships among different countries. For example, USA, which is widely known as a research hub have a broad range of facilities and technologies to tackle illness. Indian medical students can learn about them and enhance their knowledge in the medical field. These can also build confidence among professionals to live in a different country on their own. In my opinion, this freedom is essential for both professional and personal growth of the professionals.

In conclusion, professionals are an important contributors to a nation. Although they are required to work in a country where they did their training, their personal and professional develpment should not be overlooked. By meeting new people and trying their hands on new methods, they can live in a better way rather than staying in their comfort zone whole lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: the introduction and conclusion support professionals’ freedom to work abroad. The discussion of staying in the training country is relevant, especially the point about local knowledge and patients’ trust in native doctors. The contrasting example of Indian medical students learning from US facilities also supports the case for mobility. This meets the task well, but the two sides are not developed equally: the benefits of staying are explained mainly through familiarity and language, while the costs of requiring professionals to remain are only briefly mentioned. Some claims, such as the effect on international relationships, would benefit from a clearer explanation or a more specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. The progression from local benefits to international opportunities is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help orient the reader. This is a coherent arrangement, though some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “These can eventually build strong cultural morals” does not clearly identify what “These” refers to, and the transition from the benefits of local work to the claim that professional growth “can be hindered” could be more fully explained. Use referencing that clearly points to the relevant idea, and link each example back to the argument it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

There is an adequate range for discussing the topic, including phrases such as “valuable insights,” “linguistic barrier,” “adapt new techniques,” and “professional and personal growth.” The writer also attempts more formal vocabulary, but some choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “a freedom,” “aware about,” “cultural morals,” and “trying their hands on new methods” do not express the intended ideas naturally. “Develpment” is also misspelled. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they make parts of the essay less fluent and precise. Aim to learn vocabulary in common word partnerships and check spelling, rather than choosing formal-sounding expressions that do not fit the context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses and contrast structures, as in “Although working in the same nation is beneficial, the overall growth of a professional can be hindered.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “Working in the same country provide” and “professionals … have a significant impact”; the latter also shifts awkwardly between plural professionals and a singular impact. Articles and plural forms need attention in “an important contributors,” while “which … have a broad range” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete and clearly connected.
