Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people think that skilled persons, like doctors as well as engineers should work and spend their skills in their own country where they got their training. Other people believe that they should be free to go anywhere or any country for their future.

In my first argument, the work professionals should be available for their country and nation, where they did their training and practicals because every country needs a skill person like doctors, engineers, scientists for growth of nation and community. For example, a professional doctor his own country can serve his skills better than the overseas one. The training sessions can be a reason for that, because they have some difference in values and their ways of constructing practicals can also be a problem for them.

The other point of view about the work professional is also valid for their freedom to let them choose country and places which they like to move on. The freedom for choosing workplace is a basic human right because you can not force anyone to stay in one country for just a reason that they did training in it. For example, a doctor give his all efforts and time to make his career, and want to go abroad for his better future and some government said, you cannot go, so this is totally wrong.

To sum up the conversation, i believe that the professionals should be free to move from their country to abroad for their future and career opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both views and state your opinion clearly in the conclusion: you support professionals being free to move abroad. However, the response only partially develops the task. The case for requiring professionals to serve their training country is supported by the general point that countries need skilled workers, but the example about a local doctor serving better than an overseas one is unclear and does not explain why training creates an obligation. The freedom argument is more directly explained through personal choice and career prospects, though it would benefit from a specific, relevant example. The response also falls one word short of the required minimum. Develop each side with clearer reasoning and support before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Phrases such as “The other point of view” help signal the shift between arguments, and the final paragraph makes your position easy to identify. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For instance, the link between differences in training values and the claim that a local doctor serves better is not made explicit. “To sum up the conversation” is also an awkward transition, and the conclusion is very brief. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and develop the paragraph sequence so that each example directly supports its main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “professionals,” “training,” “workplace,” “human right,” and “career opportunities,” so the reader can understand the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less clear. Examples include “skilled persons,” “spend their skills,” “a skill person,” and “move on.” There is also repetition of “country” and “freedom.” Aim for more precise, natural phrases and vary repeated terms; for example, describe professionals as “using their expertise” and refer to “the country in which they trained.” This would make the argument clearer and more appropriate to an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a conditional example about a government preventing a doctor from leaving. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to interpret. For example, “a professional doctor his own country can serve his skills” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “a doctor give his all efforts” has subject–verb and determiner problems. There are also issues with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “every country needs a skill person.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, and punctuation.
