Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is commonly believed by some people that it is necessary for the doctors and engineers of a country to offer their services in their residential country in which they performed their training. While, others think that they should have a free hand in choosing their work area. In this essay, I will discuss both views and offer my opinion with some possible examples.

To begin with, to work in another country has become very common nowadays for many doctors and engineers. For example, in my country Pakistan, many intelligent students migrate to another country after becoming doctors or engineers mainly because of the income diffecrences. It is obvious that in Pakistan, many professionals are not payed well such as teachers, doctors, engineers, employers etc as compared to other successfull countries like U.S, England and China.

On the other hand, some people are of the view that the doctors and engineers should work in their own country because it is important to serve their own people instead of the foreigners. If the doctors and engineers are kept on moving from their country, it will have less number of doctors and engineers in the future which will affect the establishment of a healthier society og that country. For many humans, it is also disrespect of their country.

To sum up, it is true that the services of doctors and engineers are helpful in building a successfull and healthier society but in my opinion, they should be provided with their own choice in working.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and state your position in the conclusion: professionals should be free to choose where they work. The Pakistan example also gives a relevant reason for working abroad, namely differences in income. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for migration is mainly about pay, while the argument for staying is expressed broadly through serving one’s people and maintaining a healthier society. The claim that leaving is a “disrespect” to one’s country is not explained, and the introduction promises examples without developing them beyond the brief personal-country reference. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences and trade-offs more fully and make your own position clear earlier as well as in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting the case for working abroad, a contrasting paragraph supporting service at home, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” make the progression easy to follow. Some links between ideas are less clear, however. For example, the move from professionals leaving to “a healthier society” needs an explicit explanation of how shortages affect healthcare and development. The phrase “For many humans” also leaves the reference and intended point unclear. The conclusion repeats the general contrast rather than drawing together the reasons. Develop each paragraph around a central claim and use clearer links between claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic, including relevant terms such as “migrate,” “income differences,” “professionals,” and “establishment.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “offer their services” and “provided with their own choice.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “residential country” does not clearly mean the country where someone trained, and “work area” is not a natural way to describe a choice of country. Spelling errors such as “diffecrences,” “payed,” and “successfull” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, use “country of training,” “choose where to work,” and “paid.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While others think…” and a conditional sentence beginning “If the doctors and engineers…”. Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions reduce control. In the opening, “While, others think” is incorrectly punctuated and leaves the clause incomplete; write “while others think…” as part of the same sentence. “It will have less number of doctors” needs a more accurate structure, such as “there will be fewer doctors.” The sentence beginning “For many humans” is also grammatically and logically unclear. Work on complete clause structure, countable nouns, and sentence punctuation while continuing to use complex forms.
