Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many pressume that high-level professionals such as doctors or engineers should work where they obtained their education from, while some think they should have the freedom to choose their location of work. I believe that professionals should be given the choice to select their of employment, depending on their need and future perspective.

Highl level professions can help to develop a country significantly by executing their skills to improve condition and generate innovative ideas. This encourages growth and employment in the country. For example, engineers or businessmen can apply their acquired knowledge and skills to help develop infrastructures or create jobs for people, greatly improving the life of fellow countrymen. Skilled doctors can contribute to improve the healthcare sector, making healthcare more accessible and ensure good treatment facility.

However, many professionals seek to move abroad in search of better employment opportunities and lifestyle. This mainly results from a lack of skilled opportunities in their native country, low wages and living condition, which forces them to search for jobs elsewhere. Such phenomenon increases "brain-drain" since poor and developing countries suffer from lack of skilled workers as many cannot afford their expenses. On the other hand, many doctors and enginneers gain better environment where they can showcase their skills and knowledge, contributing greatly to the development and technological advancements in their respective field.

Thus, it is essential to allow such highly skilled professionals to choose their desired path and place of work where they can expand their knowledge and skills. This enables them to connect with people and different platforms, and make significant advancements to achieve their goal and mission.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You present a clear opinion that professionals should be free to choose where they work, and you discuss both the contribution they can make at home and the reasons they may move abroad. The examples about engineers supporting infrastructure and doctors improving healthcare are relevant. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the case for requiring professionals to remain in their training country is mainly described through general benefits, without explaining why training creates an obligation or how such a requirement could work. The discussion of migration gives several causes but could explain the consequences and trade-offs more fully. Develop each view with a specific reason and example, then connect your final opinion directly to the arguments considered.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on professionals’ contribution to their home country, a paragraph on migration, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “However,” and “Thus” help signal the direction of the argument. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical, though. In the migration paragraph, “On the other hand” introduces a benefit of working abroad, but the relationship to the preceding point about brain drain is not fully explained. The conclusion also repeats the preference for choice without drawing together the two sides. Use more precise transitions to show contrast or consequence, and make each paragraph’s central point explicit before adding supporting details.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “skilled workers,” “employment opportunities,” “brain-drain,” and “technological advancements.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision, such as “high-level professions,” “skilled opportunities,” and “better environment.” There are also spelling errors, including “pressume,” “enginneers,” and “Highl,” which affect the accuracy of the vocabulary. Aim for natural combinations such as “highly skilled professionals,” “job opportunities for skilled workers,” and “a better working environment.” Proofreading for spelling and checking unfamiliar phrases in context would make your vocabulary more controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including a relative clause in “where they obtained their education from” and a cause-and-effect construction beginning “This mainly results from…”. Most ideas remain understandable, and some sentences are controlled, such as the sentence explaining how engineers can support infrastructure. Some grammatical errors persist, however. In the opening, “choose their of employment” has an incorrect structure; “contribute to improve” should be “contribute to improving”; and “making healthcare more accessible and ensure” lacks parallel verb forms. There are also issues with articles and number, as in “good treatment facility.” Review verb patterns after “contribute to,” maintain parallel forms in coordinated clauses, and check articles and plural nouns.
