Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people think that, doctors and engineers should stay at their country after completing their degrees, while others argue that, they should be allowed to work in other regions, according to their choices. This essay will explain both views, though I believe that professionals should stay at their country, so that they can serve the people of their homeland.

Nowadays, developed countries offer many opportunities for the professionals like doctors and engineers. As an example, the US and european countries provide attractive Phd offer and training, which assist people to enhance their knowledge. They get experienced by these activities, which help to secure their future career. Moreover, the work environment is better in the developed countries, where students can build up their practical skills with better equipments. As a result, they become confident, which supports them in their jobs.

Although first world countries offer several opportunities, people should serve their motherland as the first priority. The government spend a lot for developing these educational sectors because they hope that, these students will serve their country in future. Therefore, it's a responsibility to every student to support their country because by this, they will be able to pay the debt of their country. Moreover, general residents of a country also keep trust of their own students, which should be delivered by the students. Lastly, people may visit to foreign countries for training but after completing it, they should return to their homeland for serving it's citizens.

In conclusion, foreign countries may provide excellent opportunities for the professionals. However, they should serve their country first. Nevertheless, they can complete their extended training abroad but return to their country afterwards.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You present a clear opinion: professionals should return to serve their home country, while being able to train abroad. You also discuss both perspectives, explaining overseas opportunities such as training and improved work environments, and the expectation that graduates contribute to their country. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits of working abroad are explained more fully than the reasons professionals should be free to choose where they work, and the home-country argument relies mainly on duty and public investment. The claim that students can “pay the debt of their country” is not clarified or supported with an example. To strengthen the response, explain the competing view more directly and develop each main reason with a specific consequence or relevant example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the overall line of argument understandable. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical: “Moreover,” “As a result,” “Therefore,” and “Lastly” connect points, but the links between some claims are not fully explained. For example, the move from government spending on education to an individual student’s responsibility needs a clearer explanation. Some references are also unclear, such as “these activities” and “by this.” Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s central point explicit, linking supporting details logically, and using pronouns only when their reference is unmistakable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “opportunities,” “practical skills,” “educational sectors,” and “serve their country.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “first priority” and “responsibility.” However, several word choices and collocations are noticeably inaccurate or awkward, including “Phd offer,” “get experienced,” “better equipments,” and “pay the debt of their country.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Spelling and capitalisation also need attention in “european” and “Phd.” Build a more accurate range by learning common academic collocations and checking whether each phrase fits its context; for instance, describe gaining experience and repaying public investment more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “because,” and “where,” and the main argument remains understandable. However, errors occur across sentence patterns and punctuation. The opening has unnecessary commas after “think” and “argue”; “The government spend” has subject–verb disagreement; and “it's a responsibility to every student” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. There are also problems with articles, prepositions, and possessives, as in “at their country,” “visit to foreign countries,” and “it's citizens.” These errors reduce accuracy even when the meaning can be inferred. Practise checking agreement, article use, and preposition patterns, and proofread punctuation around introductory clauses and reported views.
