Student answer (Band 4.5)

I agree with the first statement that, professionals such as doctors and engineers, should be required to work in their country where they did their training. I agree with this statement because in which country engineers and doctors did their trainings they should work their because that country provided them fascilities to do their training this is the responsibility of that engineer or doctor to give or provide services to their country by doing this the country will develop and prospers. If engineers and doctors start providing srvices to their country the new technology will be introdused in the country and more employement opportunities will be prodused. In contrast if they will be free to work in another country if they wish then no engineer and doctor will be in that country which is not much developed and economy of that country is to weak or poor and no one will be willing to provide their services to their own country. If we talk about Pakistan the economy of Pakistan is not too good like US, China and UAE countries not any single engineer or doctor wants to work in their country. this is the biggest reason behind the underdevelopment of Pakistan. If their is no engineer or doctor inte country the country will not get develloping in the technology and health. For the development of country technology and health is necessary. Doctor Qbdul Qadir Khan is the greatest example for Pakistanis. He worked in his country and invented or made the atomic bomb for his country and made the Pakistan the nuclear power country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a clear preference for requiring professionals to serve the country where they trained, and you give relevant reasons, including the possible benefits to technology, healthcare and employment. The Pakistan example and the reference to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan also attempt to support your position. However, the task asks you to discuss both views, and the freedom to work abroad is mostly presented as a threat rather than explained from the perspective of professionals who support that choice. Several claims are broad or insufficiently developed. The response is also 242 words, below the required 250; the 23 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop both sides more fully and add a reasoned conclusion to complete the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a discernible line of argument: you state your position, give reasons for it, introduce a contrast, and then provide a country example. Linking expressions such as “In contrast” and “If we talk about Pakistan” help signal shifts. However, most of the response is one long paragraph, so the reader has little visual guidance through the different points. The ideas also run together in long sentences, and repeated references to “the country” and “engineers and doctors” make progression feel circular. Some connections are unclear, particularly the move from professionals leaving to Pakistan’s underdevelopment. Use separate paragraphs for each view and your opinion, and make each sentence develop one connected point.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “economy,” “technology,” “employment opportunities,” “underdevelopment” and “nuclear power.” These choices make your general argument understandable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on “country,” “work” and “services.” Several spelling errors, including “fascilities,” “srvices,” “introdused” and “employement,” reduce accuracy. Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “the economy ... is to weak” and “will not get develloping.” Aim for more precise terms and check spelling carefully; varied vocabulary for migration, public investment and professional contribution would help express the ideas more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas using subordinate clauses and conditional forms, for example, “If engineers and doctors start providing services...” and “if they will be free to work...”. However, sentence structures are mostly long and difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. The opening has incorrect punctuation and structure (“I agree with the first statement that, professionals…”), while “in which country ... did their trainings they should work” has an unclear clause pattern. There are also problems with articles, agreement and verb forms, as in “the country will develop and prospers” and “no engineer and doctor will be.” Practise shorter, complete sentences first, then build accurate complex sentences with controlled conditionals and relative clauses.
