Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should work in the country where they received their education and training. However, others argue that they should have the freedom to work in any country they prefer. In my opinion professional should be free to choose where they want to work.
On the one hand, there are several reason why professional should work in their home country. Firstly, the government often spends a significant amount of money on education and professional training. Therefore, these individuals should contribute to their country's development. Secondly, many developing countries face a shortage of skilled workers, especially doctors and engineers. If these professional move aboard , local people may struggle to access essential services, such as healthcare. As result, the country's development may slow down.
On the other hand, I believe that professionals should have to right to work abroad. Firstly, foreign countries may offer better salaries, modern facilities, and more career opportunities. For example doctor has gain valuable experience by working in well-equipped hospitals. Moreover, everyone should have the freedom to choose their work place according to their personal goals. Working aboard can also help professional support their families financially and improve their living standards. In addition, they may learn new skills that cloud benefit their home country if they return in future.
In conclusion, although professionals have responsibilities toward their home countries, I believe they should be free to work abroad. Instead of forcing them to stay, governments should provide better salaries, and working conditions to encourage skilled workers to contribute to their country's progress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: the opening states that professionals should be free to choose, and the conclusion reinforces this position while suggesting better pay and conditions as an alternative to compulsion. Relevant reasons include public investment in training, shortages of skilled workers, career opportunities, and family finances. The example of gaining experience in a well-equipped hospital also supports the case for working abroad. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between professionals leaving and slower national development could be illustrated or developed further, and the benefits of returning with new skills are only briefly mentioned. More balanced explanation and specific support would make the discussion more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion. The progression from reasons to work at home to reasons to work abroad is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “Moreover,” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. The final recommendation also connects logically to the argument. Some linking is mechanical, however, because several points are introduced with “Firstly” or “Secondly,” and the paragraph on working abroad contains a sequence of ideas that could be grouped more deliberately. Improve cohesion by varying transitions and using clearer references between claims—for example, explicitly connecting the return of skilled workers to the earlier concern about shortages.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “professional training,” “shortage of skilled workers,” “career opportunities,” and “living standards.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range and control are uneven, with repeated use of “professional” and several noticeable word-choice, form, and spelling errors. Examples include “aboard” for “abroad,” “work place,” and “cloud” for “could”; “professional” is also used where the plural “professionals” is needed. Some phrasing is imprecise, such as “has gain valuable experience.” To strengthen this area, check spelling and word forms carefully, use more precise topic vocabulary, and vary repeated terms without choosing unnatural synonyms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including cause-and-effect structures with “Therefore” and conditional phrasing such as “if they return in future.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the paragraph structure helps the reader follow the argument. However, some grammatical errors recur in agreement, articles, and verb forms: “professional should be free” needs a plural subject, “there are several reason” needs a plural noun, and “For example doctor has gain” needs an article and a corrected verb form. The sentence “they should have to right” also contains an incorrect article. Review subject–verb agreement, singular and plural forms, and article use, then proofread verb forms. Greater accuracy across these structures would make the argument more fluent.
