Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals argue that professional persons, such as doctors and engineers, should be required to do their work in the country where they have completed their training while others think that they should have independence in choosing country wherever they want to work. Although working in the country where they did their training will help that country to boost their economy by applying the skills they learned in the real world, I believe that the individuals should be independent in selecting that which country they want to work because they should work where they feel they can get more benefits to improve their living standards and feel more comfortable. As far as i am concerned, I believe in independence of choosing where i should work and where i can have more advantages.
On the one hand, people with professions, such as doctors and engineers, they should work for the country where they did their training because that will boost the economy of the country by applying these professional skills in the industry and providing services to the public which can help citizens to get benefits from them. This will have a great impact in the economy because the individuals who needed to go to another country for medical treatments, they will not have to go anywhere because they will get those services in their own country. For example, a patient who need a brain surgery but the expert doctors are not available in their country so they need to go another country for the treatment which cost them more financially. Therefore, if government will make laws that professionals will have to work where they completed their trainings then it will really help government economically and the public in different ways.
On the other hand, individuals should have the right to work where they want to work and should not be limited to work in the country where they did their trainings. This is because, they need to see where they can get more opportunities and where they can improve their living standards. If they will be restricted to work in the same country, they might get much lower opportunities and even may struggle financially too. For example, an engineer, who got high paid job in another country but he could not achieve it due to the restriction of government, he will struggle financially and will not be able to secure a better future. Therefore, every professional should have the right to do jobs where they are comfortable and where they want and improve their living standards.
In conclusion, although working in the country where professionals performed their training can be beneficial for that country in many ways, I largly believe that professionals should not be restricted and should have the freedom to work where they want to work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state your own position clearly: you recognise the potential benefit to the training country, but support professionals’ freedom to choose where they work. The examples about access to brain surgery and an engineer losing a better-paid opportunity are relevant and help explain each side. This meets the task well, though some reasoning is more fully developed than other parts. In particular, the economic benefit to the country is asserted rather than explained in detail, and the engineer example focuses mainly on personal finances. To strengthen the response, develop the wider consequences of each position and make the comparison between public benefit and individual choice more explicit. Your conclusion consistently restates your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation clear. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences rely on “Therefore” or repeated “This is because” constructions. Some references are also unclear or awkward, as in “they should work for the country” and “those services,” where the intended people or services could be named more precisely. For stronger progression, connect each example directly to the claim it supports and vary linking methods, using clear pronouns and topic-focused transitions rather than repeating the same formula.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “professional skills,” “medical treatments,” “opportunities,” and “living standards.” The meaning is generally understandable, but the range is limited by repeated wording such as “work,” “country,” and “where they want to work.” Several choices are imprecise or unnatural, including “professional persons,” “independence in choosing country,” and “boost their economy” when referring to a country. Spelling errors such as “largly” also reduce accuracy. To improve, use more precise collocations and vary key terms—for example, distinguish between employment, practising a profession, and career opportunities. Check spelling and word forms during revision, while keeping vocabulary natural rather than forcing overly formal expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “although,” “because,” and “if,” and your main ideas remain understandable. However, complex structures are not consistently controlled, and errors recur in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “a patient who need,” “if government will make laws,” and “they should have independence of choosing.” There are also awkward or incomplete constructions, such as “they should work for the country where they did their training because that will boost…” followed by a long chain of ideas. Practise accurate conditional forms and subject–verb agreement, and divide sentences when they contain several linked claims. Careful proofreading for articles and punctuation would also improve control.
