Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argued that professional workers should serve to their country where they did their training. On the other side, people believe that they have personal liberty to work in another country. I believe that workers should have their free choice to work in different country.

To begin with, every person has their own choice and dreams. Many professional worker such as doctors and engineers has their choice to do job in their own country or another country. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your own position clearly in the introduction: you support professionals’ freedom to choose where they work. The discussion includes relevant reasons, such as public investment in training, shortages of professionals, career opportunities, and remittances. However, the two sides are not developed evenly: the first view has a specific example about your brother, while the second ends before its point about political and infrastructure problems is fully explained. The conclusion and a fuller comparison of the arguments are also missing, so the response only partially fulfils the task. To strengthen it, complete the second argument and explain more directly why your preferred view outweighs the alternative.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “To begin with,” and a contrasting paragraph introduced by “On the other side.” These markers help readers identify the two perspectives, and the ideas within the first body paragraph generally follow a sensible order. However, progression is weakened because the second paragraph stops mid-sentence, and there is no concluding paragraph to bring the discussion together. Some links are also mechanical or unclear, such as “Moreover” and “In this way,” while the shift from general claims to the personal example could be smoother. Use clearer links between each reason and its explanation, finish the final point, and add a brief conclusion that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of task-relevant vocabulary, including “personal liberty,” “return on investment,” “political instability,” and “remittance,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “workers,” “country,” and “choice,” and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make some phrases awkward or less clear. For example, “heavy subsidi” and “best work experince” are not accurate forms, while “return their owe” does not express the intended idea naturally. Aim to use precise terms consistently and check spelling and collocations. More accurate phrasing would make your arguments sound clearer and more academic without requiring unnecessarily complex vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “They can get competitive salary … also they can send remittance” and the sentence beginning “Furthermore.” However, control is inconsistent, and frequent errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “Many professional worker … has,” “Government provide,” and “many regions has.” The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “prevent professional worker to do their practice and,” which also disrupts the argument. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and make sure each sentence has a complete grammatical structure. Breaking long sentences into shorter, accurate units would improve clarity.
