Student answer (Band 5.5)

The professionals such as doctors and engineers are very important for any nation as they play an important role. It is argued by some people that professionals should requried to work in the country where they did their tranining. While others say that they are free birds they work where they want to. I believe professionals should definately be free to work abroad if they wish, because they can learn latest techniques there which is good for their field.

To begin with, those who argue that professionals should work in the country of their training say that they can serve their people and bring change in the society. For instance, when doctors and engineers work in their nation they contribute in the economy and can bring the people out of the poverty rather than working in other country.

However, others believe that they should be allow to work where they want as working in developed nation gives them opportunities to attain the knowledge of other professional which inhances their skills. To illustrate my point, when engineers work in other countries they get new skills by using tools especially designed on the demand. It also increased their demand as they are trained and have latest knowledge related to their field.

To sum up, there are positive aspects of working of professional in their counrty of traning as it bring change to society and contribute in the economy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You discuss both positions and state your view clearly in the introduction: professionals should be free to work abroad because they can learn new techniques. You also give relevant reasons, including serving the home population and gaining skills in developed countries. However, the discussion is only partial: the first side is supported mainly by a broad claim about helping the economy and reducing poverty, while the benefits and possible costs of working abroad are not explored in much depth. The conclusion mentions only the advantages of staying in one’s country and does not restate your own preference, so your position is not sustained through the ending. The response is 227 words, 23 words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a specific example and conclude by reaffirming your opinion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding paragraph. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “To sum up” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is limited because each body paragraph presents a main claim and then moves quickly to a general example, without further explanation linking the example to the argument. The conclusion also focuses on only one side, which weakens the overall progression from your stated opinion. Some connections are unclear, particularly “It also increased their demand,” where the reference of “It” is not precise. Build clearer links between claims and examples, and make the conclusion bring together both views and your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “professionals,” “contribute in the economy,” “opportunities,” and “skills,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “latest techniques” and “tools especially designed on the demand.” However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the argument less clear. Examples include “free birds” for people who have freedom to choose, “knowledge of other professional,” and “increased their demand.” Spelling errors such as “requried,” “tranining,” “definately,” “inhances,” and “counrty” are noticeable. Choose more precise collocations and check spelling; for example, “in demand” is more natural than “increased their demand.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a subordinate clause in “because they can learn latest techniques” and a contrast introduced by “While others say…”. Most sentences communicate their basic meaning, but control is uneven, especially in longer constructions. For example, “professionals should requried to work” is missing the passive verb form, and “they should be allow to work” also needs a correct passive construction. In “when doctors and engineers work in their nation they contribute…,” punctuation is needed after the introductory clause. The final sentence, “as it bring change,” also has a subject–verb agreement error. Practise accurate passive forms, agreement, and punctuation around introductory clauses, while continuing to use a mix of sentence structures.
