Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people argue that doctors and engineers should be required to persue their job in the country where they were trained, but I believe that everyone should have the freedom to work in any country they wish because people should not be restricted to choose better career opportunities for their future in another country.

On the one hand, people believe that professionals should continue to work in the country where they completed their training because the government of the country must have invested massive funds for better educational facilities for students. Many government schools and colleges are offering free education and schorlarships to students in the field of medicine and technology. The government has every right to expect from the students to work for their country, and contribute to the economy of the nation. For example, many students in national institues are completing their training with a little donation, and later moving to foreign countries for better job opportunities. This can be solved if government provides better jobs in that country, but people have the right to choose where to work.

On the other hand, I believe that professionals have their right to move to another country for better paying jobs. Many countries have better education facilities but lack the quality of jobs they offer to graduates and professionals. For example, many engineers from all over the world move to the United States for better lifestyle and jobs, because it is a hub of technology, where many multi national companies hire professionals and value their effort by giving higher salaries compared to other countries. As a result, doctors and engineer might move to a different country for better salaries, which later improves their standard of living.

In conclusion, some people believe that professionals should get a job in the same country where they did their training due to efforts of the government to improve the economy, I believe that people should not be restricted to work in another country because they are valued and provided with high-paying salaries by other nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses both views and gives a clear opinion: you support professionals’ freedom to work abroad. The discussion of public investment, free education and scholarships explains why governments may expect graduates to serve locally, while the example of engineers moving to the United States supports your opposing view. This covers the task well, and your position is apparent throughout. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first paragraph briefly acknowledges that governments could improve local jobs, but does not explain how this might retain professionals or balance their freedom with public investment. The conclusion repeats your position rather than drawing together the competing arguments. Developing that tension and making the examples more precise would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the examples are placed with the relevant arguments. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. In the first body paragraph, “This can be solved” has an unclear reference: it is not immediately clear whether “this” means professionals leaving or the government’s investment concern. The conclusion also repeats ideas from the introduction without fully synthesising them. Use clearer referencing and link each example explicitly to the point it illustrates; this would make cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “educational facilities,” “scholarships,” “job opportunities,” “hub of technology,” and “standard of living.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, and some topic-specific language is attempted. At times, however, word choice and collocation are imprecise or repetitive: “massive funds” is less natural in this context, “a little donation” does not clearly express the intended idea, and “better” and “country” recur frequently. There are also spelling errors, including “persue,” “schorlarships,” and “institues.” These do not prevent understanding, but greater accuracy and variety would make the argument more fluent and precise. Choose collocations carefully and proofread spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “because,” “where,” and “which,” and the overall meaning remains clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as the explanation that countries may offer education but lack suitable jobs. There are also some grammatical errors. In the opening, “restricted to choose” needs a different construction, such as “prevented from choosing”; later, “doctors and engineer might move” has a number-agreement error, and “expect from the students to work” uses an incorrect verb pattern. The long opening sentence also joins several ideas in a way that makes the structure harder to manage. Review verb patterns, agreement, and sentence boundaries, while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
