Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many individuals believe that doctors and engineers should be bound to work in their countries where they did their training, however, I do not agree as professional should have every right to work where they want for financial and mental stability.

Doctors and engineers are the professions that require years of hardwork, dedication and consistency. After all the hardships bounding them to a country where they can not make adequate money and can not access the luxuries that people with other professions enjoy is quiet unfair. For instance, civil engineering have a vast scope in Gulf in terms of job stability and financially. Medical pharmacies in South Asia do not require prescription before giving drugs due to which people living in that region have build a resilience towards antibiotics and in result doctors suffers while recommending the medicine because they are left with no option. The salaries differ by huge numbers in first world countries and third world countries due to which many stem graduates prefer going to west.

Although, it all does not come without its cost. A country invests in all citizens and when they flew from country to secure jobs in other countries it contributes to nation lacking professionals, whereas this issue can be solved to some extent by giving these professionals handsome salaries and job security.

Overall, I am driven to the conclusion that there are drawbacks for a country whos professionals leave contributing to lack of professionals, but professionals like doctors and engineers must have every right to work freely anywhere globally for job stability.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you oppose requiring professionals to remain in the country where they trained, and you acknowledge the counterargument that their departure can leave a country short of skilled workers. This addresses both views and gives a relevant reason for your opinion, particularly the contrast in salaries and job opportunities. However, the case for requiring professionals to stay is only briefly developed, and the proposed solution of offering better salaries and job security is not explained in detail. Some supporting points, such as the discussion of antibiotic use, are not clearly connected to the question of where professionals should work. Develop each side more evenly and use examples that directly support the argument about professional mobility.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting freedom to work abroad, a paragraph presenting the national workforce concern, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Although,” and “Overall” help signal the direction of the argument. However, the progression within the first body paragraph is not always clear: the discussion moves from working conditions to engineering opportunities, then to pharmacy practices and salaries without explaining the links between these points. “Although” also introduces a contrast, but the sentence that follows is awkwardly connected to the previous paragraph. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main idea, with references that make the relationships between examples explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “job stability,” “financially,” “nation,” and “professionals,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “resilience towards antibiotics.” These choices show an effort to discuss employment and healthcare beyond basic terms. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, however, including “bound to work,” “quiet unfair,” and “salaries differ by huge numbers.” “Medical pharmacies” is also unclear in context, and “hardwork” should be written as two words. Aim for more natural academic phrasing and check whether each expression conveys the intended meaning. More precise vocabulary would make your examples easier to follow and strengthen the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “when they flew from country to secure jobs” and a concession introduced by “Although.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “professional should have” needs plural agreement, “civil engineering have” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “doctors suffers” should agree in number. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “in their countries where they did their training” and the long opening sentence joined with “however.” Practise accurate agreement, articles, and punctuation in longer sentences. Breaking some sentences into clearer units would help you retain complexity while improving control.
