Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people believe that professionals, such as doctors and engineers should work in the country where they received their training. However, others think that they should have the freedom to work in any country. I believe that, professionals should be allowed to choose where they want to work because it provides better career opportunities and freedom.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why professionals should work in the country where they studied. Firstly, governments often spend a large amount of money on education and training. Therefore, graduates should contribute to their own country. For instance, authorities provide facilities and financial support to train doctors. If these doctors move abroad immediately after graduation, their home country may face a shortage of medical professionals. Secondly, working in their home country allow them to improve the public services and support to local healthcare centers.

On the other hand, I believe that professionals should have right to work abroad if they wish. Different countries offer better salaries, more career opportunities. For example, doctors may move to abroad to gain experience with advanced medical technology. Similarly, engineers can also move abroad to get experienced on international projects. Furthermore, working abroad allows professional to learn new skills and gain experience from various people with different background. As as result, they can also share about their country's experience if they decide to return back.

In the conclusion, although professionals can make essential contribution to the county where they received their education. I believe they should be free to choose their workplace. When making decision, better opportunities and personal freedom should be considered.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and state a clear opinion in the introduction: professionals should be free to choose where they work. The points about public investment and possible staff shortages explain why some people favour requiring graduates to stay, while better salaries, technology and career opportunities support your own position. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. For example, the claim that professionals can improve local services is not explained with a specific consequence, and the point about sharing experience after returning home is introduced but not clearly connected to your argument. Develop these points with a concrete example or explanation, and make the conclusion’s reasoning more explicit. The response meets the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion, and examples are placed alongside relevant claims. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical because several points are introduced with “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” without enough explanation linking them. Some connections are also unclear: “As as result” does not accurately signal the relationship between gaining experience and sharing it after returning, and the conclusion begins with a sentence fragment-like structure. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the logical links between each claim and its consequence more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “financial support,” “shortage of medical professionals,” “career opportunities,” and “advanced medical technology.” These choices communicate the main ideas clearly, and there are attempts to use more specific language than basic everyday terms. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, though. “Move to abroad” is not idiomatic, “get experienced on international projects” is awkward, and “share about their country's experience” does not express the intended meaning naturally. “Professionals” and “work abroad” also recur frequently. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms; this would make the argument sound more fluent and controlled.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional sentences such as “If these doctors move abroad immediately after graduation, their home country may face a shortage” and a concessive clause in the conclusion. Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “working in their home country allow” needs subject–verb agreement, and “professionals should have right” needs an article. The sentence “Different countries offer better salaries, more career opportunities” is incomplete as written, while “although professionals can make essential contribution…” is not properly joined to the following sentence. There are also punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary comma after “I believe” in the introduction. Check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries during revision.
