Student answer (Band 6.0)

Professionals, such as doctors and engineers, should work in the place where they can continually grow and gain more knowledge and skills. Sometimes, it can be done in the country where they did training or in another country which offers more benefits.

To some extent, I believe working in the origin country where they did training is good for adaptability and sustainability of their carrier. When they did training, usually they also made connection between their colleges, clients, partners in that country. They would expect no surprise when working with them. Scheme of training funding also influence how they choose their next carrier working place after training. Some of funding institution may required professionals, whom received fund, to work in the origin country where they trained and funded. In my knowledge, most of them spend minimum 2 years mandatory working in that country.

Some professionals may free to work in another country after training. It is depends on their willingness or scheme of training fund as well. Let us say, they have got training by self funded, then they see bigger opportunity working in another country, so it will make them gain more knowledge, experiences and money as well. Most of them might choose another country based on salary offers. But, if they have got training by scholarship, they should follow the regulation of fund institution. For instance, my collegues whom funded by LPDP scholarship and receive training in UK, must comeback to Indonesia to work in any institution in Indonesia. They should spend minimum 2 years of working. The LPDP institution expect them to solve any problem related to health or engineering in Indonesia.

In conclusion, I believe anyone who want to gain training should know better their carrier path and the resources they had. If they all self funded, then They are free to work whether in the country they did training or in the country they gain more benefits for their next carrier. But, if they choose scholarship for their training, then they should follow the rule of their sponsor institution no matter what.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear conditional opinion: professionals may choose where to work if self-funded, whereas scholarship recipients should meet their sponsor’s requirements. The examples about LPDP scholars returning to Indonesia and working for at least two years make the discussion relevant and concrete. However, the response focuses heavily on funding conditions, so it does not fully explore the broader arguments for requiring all trained professionals to remain in the country, or for allowing them to move freely. The opening also introduces personal growth without developing it as a central argument. To strengthen the response, explain the wider effects on the training country and the professional, then connect your examples directly to those arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two positions, and a conclusion. The progression from training-country obligations to freedom of choice is easy to follow, and phrases such as “For instance” help introduce supporting evidence. However, some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For example, “It is depends on their willingness or scheme of training fund as well” repeats the previous paragraph’s funding point without clearly signalling how it advances the argument. The conclusion also restates the funding distinction rather than drawing together the main reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and more explicit links between claims and examples, and ensure pronouns such as “they” have an unmistakable reference.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “adaptability,” “sustainability,” “scholarship,” “regulation,” and “salary offers,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “training funding” and “mandatory working.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “carrier” is used where “career” is intended, “made connection” is unnatural, and “comeback” should be “come back.” Some phrases, including “origin country” and “training fund,” are repeated rather than varied. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for employment and education, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise alternatives would make the argument sound more natural and academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional sentences such as “if they have got training by scholarship” and a relative clause in “professionals, whom received fund.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, some errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “It is depends” should be “It depends,” “Some of funding institution may required” needs a corrected noun phrase and modal verb, and “anyone who want” requires subject–verb agreement. The conditional forms are also inconsistent, as in “if they have got training” and “then They are free.” Review these patterns and proofread for agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries to improve control.
