Student answer (Band 5.5)

Although, few individuals think that technocrates, such as doctors and engieers, should work in the same nation where they trained, while others believe they should be allowed to work anywhere they want. Professionals are building blocks of a developed society, they provide a special recognation to a country. In this essay, I will present both perspectives before opiniating.

On the one hand, few individuals argue professionals should only work in the country where they did their training. One of the main reason is that some people have higher standards than others, they are supermacist of their country's certain standards. For instance, the USA requires a certain exam to be cleared for a person coming from a different country to work as a doctor.

On the other hand, others believe that people should be allowed to work anywhere they want. One significant reason for this belief that those people consider a professional, a professional, despite of their training from anywhere in the world. Consider an example of a professional from India, he should be allowed to work anywhere in the world if he had acquired certain qualifications.

In my opinion, while both arguments have merit, I believe that professionals should be allowed to work anywhere but there should be a standard international exam required for each individual to work as a professional. This is more convincing viewpoint mainly because it eliminates any sort of discrimination.

In conclusion, although some people argue that professionals should work only where they did their training at, others believe the opposite. After considering both perspectives, I believe that professionals should be free to work in any country but with a regulation of clearing a certain standard exam.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both views and state a clear position: professionals should be free to work abroad, provided they pass an international standard exam. The USA licensing example is relevant, and the conclusion reflects your opinion. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The first view is explained mainly through the claim that countries have different standards, while the reasons for requiring trained professionals to remain—such as public investment in their education or shortages of skilled workers—are not explored. The opposing view is also asserted more than explained, and the India example does not show why mobility is beneficial. Develop each side with a clear reason and a specific consequence or example; this would make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections, however, feel mechanical, and the reasoning within paragraphs is not always clearly linked. For example, the claim that some people “have higher standards” does not clearly explain why professionals should work only where they trained. The repeated framing of the opposing views in the introduction and conclusion also adds little progression. Link each reason directly to its implication, and use pronouns or transitions only where their reference is clear, to make the argument flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “professionals,” “qualifications,” “discrimination,” and “standard international exam,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors weaken precision: “technocrates,” “engieers,” “recognation,” “supermacist,” and “opiniating.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “provide a special recognition to a country” and “a professional, a professional.” Choose accurate, natural collocations and avoid repeating the same general terms such as “work anywhere” and “professional.” More precise language for licensing, workforce needs, and international mobility would help express the argument with greater flexibility and clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although … while others believe…” and a conditional idea in “if he had acquired certain qualifications.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. The opening sentence begins with “Although” but does not form a complete, well-connected construction. In “Professionals are building blocks of a developed society, they provide…,” two independent clauses are joined only by a comma. There are also agreement and article problems in “One of the main reason” and “a certain standard exam,” as well as awkward preposition patterns such as “despite of.” Practise complete clause structures, accurate agreement, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for these patterns.
