Student answer (Band 6.0)

People nowadays belive that professionals with critical skills are required to work in their home country and serve the nation, others are on the other side defending that people with critical profession should opt for better oppurtunities in countries they find better. In my opinion people should do as their heart say and migrate to whichever country presents them with better oppurtunities and higher living standards.

On the first hand, there are people believing in patriotism that the a person should give their services to their home country, instead of shifting abroad because of the skills and training they attained from their motherland, engineers or doctors are critical professions and if they leave the country, there would be shortage of the professionals, resulting in downfall of the country's economic growth, healthcare and finance sector.

Whereas on the other hand, people belive that the professinals of critical skills such as doctors and engineers should be given a free will for their own future decisions, which will result in diverse opinions, people seeking better oppurtunities would migrate to other countries as well as people who are confident enough to create their own oppurtunities would find their ways in their home nation and achieve greater heights, resulting in a win win oppurtunity for both the situations.

In my opinion, professionals should be given open hand on their decisions, restricting them to their own nation for the sake of patriotism towanrds their learning and training might diminish their overall confidence and would not achieve their overall potentials as a doctor or engineer.

In conclusion, people with critical skills such as doctors and engineers are an asset to the country and binding them to societal mentality of patriotism and loyalty would only demean their morale of being a professional, but as a human beings, they should be given open hand for their own decisions towards their future step.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You discuss both positions and make your own view clear: you support professionals choosing where to work, arguing that restrictions could reduce their confidence and potential. The explanation of the opposing view is relevant, especially the point that losing doctors and engineers may leave shortages and harm healthcare and economic growth. However, the case for freedom is less fully developed: the claim that migration creates a “win win opportunity” is not explained with a concrete example or a clear account of how both countries benefit. Some reasoning also remains broad, such as the appeal to patriotism. To strengthen the response, develop each main claim with a specific example and explain its consequences more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall shape: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a paragraph stating your opinion, and a conclusion. The reader can follow the central contrast, and signposts such as “on the other hand” make the discussion easy to navigate. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some stronger control through paragraphing and a generally logical sequence. However, transitions are sometimes mechanical, and the first body paragraph combines several ideas in one long sentence. The conclusion also repeats much of the opinion paragraph rather than drawing the discussion together. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and vary transitions so that progression depends on the logic of the ideas, not just signposting.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “critical professions,” “economic growth,” “healthcare,” and “living standards,” and you attempt more formal expressions such as “attained” and “diminish.” However, the range is limited by repeated wording, particularly “opportunities,” “critical,” and “country,” while several choices or collocations are inaccurate: “open hand” does not mean freedom of choice, and “societal mentality of patriotism” is awkward. Spelling errors such as “belive,” “oppurtunities,” and “professinals” are noticeable and reduce the impression of control. Aim for more precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this will make your ideas clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” so there is some variety in structure. Most of the argument remains understandable, but some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation are evident. For example, the opening joins two independent clauses with a comma, and “the a person” contains an article error. In “as a human beings,” the article and plural form do not agree; “as a human being” would be correct. The sentence beginning “Whereas on the other hand” is also awkwardly attached to the following clause. Practise separating long sentences and checking subject–verb and article agreement while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
