Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the four sectors and give a relevant overview: healthcare and retail rise, agriculture declines, and manufacturing changes direction. You also include some useful figures, such as healthcare starting at about 2 million and reaching roughly 16 million, and retail rising from around 6 million to 16 million. However, the response covers the graph only partially: it ends mid-sentence at “IN 19” and does not report the manufacturing or agriculture figures in the body, nor explain the key comparisons across the period. The overview also says manufacturing “fluctuated,” which is vague; it peaked at about 20 million in 1980 before falling. The response is 44 words below the required minimum, limiting its development. Add a complete account of the main trends and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph giving details about healthcare and retail. This helps the reader recognise the intended organisation. However, progression is limited because the response stops abruptly at “IN 19,” leaving the final section incomplete and the other two sectors unaddressed. Connections between ideas are also repetitive: “also increased significantly” is used to introduce the retail trend, while the overview lists trends without developing their relationships. Grouping the rising sectors together and then contrasting them with agriculture and manufacturing would create a clearer progression. Use paragraph breaks to separate the overview from the detailed comparisons, and ensure each paragraph is complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “sector,” “increased,” “declined,” and “reached,” so the main trends are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, including “sectores,” “Manufacaturing,” “incresed,” and “signifiacntly.” Phrases such as “increased significantly from till to end” and “reached in 2020 the same point” are not natural ways to describe a graph. Aim for accurate trend language and collocations, such as “rose steadily over the period” or “reached a similar level.” Proofreading spellings and using a wider range of precise verbs would make the report easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “Agriculture is the only one sector who declined and the manufacturing sector fluctuated.” However, the longer constructions are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “Healthcare job are significantly increased from till to end,” where the subject and verb form do not agree, and “In 1960,healthcare sector jobs around 2 millions,” which lacks a main verb. Articles, plurals, and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the historical data. Short, accurate sentences would be a useful foundation before adding more complex structures.
