Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The response effectively identifies the main trends and provides a clear overview of the data. You have successfully highlighted the key features, such as the growth in retail and healthcare and the decline in manufacturing and agriculture. The data is well-selected to support the summary, and comparisons are made throughout. However, there is a minor error in the final paragraph where you refer to 'retail and agriculture' when you clearly intended to discuss 'retail and healthcare'. This is a slight oversight in accuracy, but the overall task is addressed well with a clear position and logical reporting of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 8.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the data effectively. Cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'in addition', 'thereafter', and 'by contrast' are used appropriately to guide the reader through the trends. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the declining sectors from the growing ones. The progression of ideas is smooth, and the information is presented in a way that is easy to follow. The structure is sound and supports the overall clarity of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 7.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision, using terms like 'upward trends', 'declined steadily', and 'significant growth'. There is some awareness of style and collocation, which allows for a natural flow. While the vocabulary is generally accurate, the slip in the final paragraph ('retail and agriculture' instead of 'healthcare') slightly affects the precision of your reporting. Overall, the range is adequate for the task, and you successfully avoid repetitive phrasing by using a variety of verbs and adverbs to describe the trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 8.0
The response displays a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You show control over grammar and punctuation, with most sentences being error-free. There are a few minor issues, such as the awkward phrasing 'reaching to 15 million approximately' and the unnecessary space before the comma in the final paragraph. However, these errors are infrequent and do not impede communication. The use of complex structures, such as 'while agriculture remained the smallest throughout the period', is handled well, indicating a good level of grammatical competence.
