Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all four sectors and identifies key trends such as the growth in healthcare and retail versus the decline in agriculture and manufacturing. The overview is clear and highlights the main features effectively. However, some data points are slightly inaccurate or imprecise, such as stating manufacturing reached 20 million in 1980 when the graph shows a peak earlier, or describing the retail sector's growth as 'same speed' when the rate of change clearly fluctuates. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that trends are described with more nuanced vocabulary to reflect the actual visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Each paragraph focuses on a specific set of trends, which helps the reader follow the progression of information. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'furthermore' and 'overall', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them in a sequence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to describe trends like 'significant increase', 'continuous downfall', and 'all time low'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'amount of jobs' (should be 'number of jobs') and '15 millions of job' (should be '15 million jobs'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Improving the use of synonyms and avoiding repetitive phrasing would enhance the lexical quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with pluralization ('15 millions', '5 millions') and article usage ('in year of 1960'). There are also issues with verb tense consistency and missing prepositions. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
