Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response attempts to summarise the main features of the graph, but it is incomplete. The final paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, meaning the data for 2020 is not fully reported or compared. While the overview identifies general trends, the lack of a complete conclusion and the incomplete data reporting significantly impact the task achievement. The figures provided are sometimes inaccurate compared to the visual data (e.g., the claim that manufacturing reached 20 million in 1980 is not supported by the graph). The response covers the main trends but fails to provide a fully developed summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete final sentence. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1960' and 'In 1980', but the flow is sometimes mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the lack of a proper ending makes the overall coherence feel disjointed. The logical flow is interrupted by the abrupt termination of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task but limited. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'various job' instead of 'various jobs' and 'demand significantly increased the throughout' which is grammatically awkward. The student attempts to use terms like 'dramatically' and 'significantly', but these are often used repetitively. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'Manufacturing sector had 15 millions jobs' (incorrect pluralisation and article usage) and 'which were remain same' (incorrect verb form). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader.
