Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to fully address the task. While you have identified the main trends (growth in Healthcare/Retail and decline in Agriculture/Manufacturing), the analysis is incomplete because the response ends abruptly mid-sentence. To achieve a higher band, you must complete the description of the data and ensure all key features are covered. The failure to finish the report means that the task is only partially addressed, and the information provided is insufficient to meet the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into an introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'while', which help the reader follow the structure. However, because the text is incomplete, the logical progression is interrupted. The abrupt ending makes the overall arrangement feel unfinished. To improve, ensure that your paragraphs are balanced and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly throughout the entire report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a basic range of vocabulary suitable for describing trends, such as 'rapid growth', 'downward trajectory', and 'increased'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'amount of employment' (should be 'number of jobs' or 'employment levels') and 'increased dramatic' (should be 'increased dramatically'). The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Focus on using adverbs correctly with verbs and ensuring your nouns and verbs agree in number.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. There are several grammatical errors, including 'Manufacturing industry was the highest number of jobs' (should be 'had the highest number of jobs') and '2.5 millions job' (should be '2.5 million jobs'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and verb forms. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the clarity of your writing. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural forms.
