Number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US, 1960-2020
Student answer (Band 5.0)
This comparison graph shows the information about the number of jobs in different four sectors of US economy from 1960 to 2020.
Overall, it can be seen that different jobs are vary according to the passing year. As like, in 1980 there is more attention towards manufacturing products but with the passage of time it decreases and also healthcare jobs constantly fall and below average in 2020 but retail and agriculture lie in between so, we can say that these two may draw the attention of people that proves advantageous for them.
In 2020, retail and agricultural jobs are mostly at the same rate but healthcare at initial rate is little bit high but with time decline can be observed from the graph. In 1980, all the jobs have higher rates that means economy rate is also higher but after that economy falls gradually but in 2020 jobs era is quite stable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to accurately report the data provided in the graph. You have misinterpreted the trends, such as claiming healthcare jobs 'constantly fall' when the graph likely shows different patterns, and your description of the data is vague (e.g., 'higher rates'). You have not selected the main features or made clear comparisons between the four sectors. The summary lacks a clear overview of the overall trends, and the information provided is factually inconsistent with the visual data. To improve, focus on identifying the starting and ending points, the most significant changes, and comparing the sectors clearly rather than making general statements about the economy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into three short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often misused, such as 'As like,' which is not standard English. The transition between ideas is abrupt, and the referencing is unclear, making it difficult to follow the relationship between the sectors and the years mentioned. The structure lacks a clear introduction, body, and conclusion, and the flow of information is disjointed. To improve, use a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' 'subsequently') and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'jobs,' 'rate,' and 'higher.' There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'jobs era' and 'different four sectors.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate precision or flexibility. You should aim to use more academic collocations and topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated,' 'remained stable,' 'witnessed a decline,' or 'accounted for.' Expanding your vocabulary will help you describe the trends more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'different jobs are vary'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'healthcare jobs... below average in 2020'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in tense and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses when describing past trends, and practicing the use of complex sentences to link ideas more effectively.
