Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the ability to provide a complete overview or detailed analysis of the data. The essay is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence in the second paragraph. While an attempt was made to identify an overall trend, the lack of completion means that key features of the graph are not reported, and comparisons are not fully developed. To improve, you must ensure you complete the task by covering all four sectors and providing a full analysis of the trends over the entire 60-year period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and an overview paragraph. However, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall progression of the essay. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Meanwhile' and 'However', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not clearly link the ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is undermined by the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, focus on creating a clear, logical flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph is fully developed before moving to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several inaccuracies. Phrases like 'sky rocketed at 20 millions at peaked' and 'at the end of period it was fell' demonstrate issues with word choice and grammatical collocation. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'sectors' and 'economy', but the range is insufficient to convey information with precision. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to describing trends, such as 'reached a peak of' or 'experienced a decline'. Avoid informal or non-standard phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'The line graph compares the economy of the United state' (missing capitalization and pluralization), 'manufacturing jobs peak at the chart' (incorrect preposition), and 'it was fell' (incorrect verb tense/passive voice). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. There is a lack of control over basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency. To improve, practice using a wider variety of sentence structures and focus on mastering basic verb tenses and prepositions.
