Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you identify the four sectors and provide some data points, the overview is missing, and the information is presented as a list of facts rather than a cohesive summary. The analysis is under-developed, and the lack of a clear structure makes it difficult to identify the main trends or make meaningful comparisons between the sectors. To improve, ensure you include an introductory sentence, a clear overview of the main trends, and sufficient detail to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks paragraphing, which is essential for a clear report. The sentences are linked in a repetitive and mechanical way, often using 'and' or 'in 1960 to 1980' to connect ideas. There is no clear logical progression between the sectors, and the lack of cohesive devices makes the text feel like a series of disjointed points rather than a unified summary. To improve, use paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, overview, and body paragraphs, and incorporate a wider range of linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', or 'subsequently'.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic verbs like 'grows', 'hit', and 'started'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'labour is grows' and 'jobs gose dumped', which are grammatically incorrect and imprecise. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends in a graph effectively. To improve, focus on learning specific collocations for describing data, such as 'experienced a steady increase', 'reached a peak of', or 'witnessed a significant decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('manufacturing labour is grows'), incorrect verb forms ('jobs gose dumped'), and missing articles or prepositions ('in us 1960 to 2020'). The sentence structures are simple and often lack proper punctuation, making the text difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and using correct verb tenses for describing past data. Proofreading for basic errors is also essential.
