Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 124 words long and ends abruptly mid-sentence. Because the response is incomplete, it fails to provide a full overview or report on the final trends of the data. While the introduction and initial data points are identified, the lack of completion prevents a full summary of the main features. To improve, you must ensure you complete the analysis of all categories and provide a comprehensive summary that covers the entire time period up to 2020.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response uses basic paragraphing, but the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the flow and logical progression of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical way (e.g., 'In contrast', 'However'), and the referencing is sometimes unclear. The incomplete nature of the final sentence makes the overall structure feel disjointed. To achieve a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed within each paragraph and that you use a wider range of cohesive devices to link your sentences and paragraphs more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on simple structures like 'the number of jobs in...'. There are also persistent errors in word formation and collocation, such as '15 jobs millions' instead of '15 million jobs'. The use of '1980 years' is also unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure you use units of measurement correctly (e.g., '15 million jobs').
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it can seen clearly' (missing 'be'), 'Manufacturing was increased' (incorrect passive voice), and the awkward phrasing '15 jobs millions'. The sentence structures are simple, and the attempt at a complex sentence in the final paragraph is left unfinished. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice for describing data. Proofreading for missing auxiliary verbs and word order is essential.
