Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all four sectors and identifies the main trends, such as the decline in Agriculture and the growth in Healthcare. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The overview is missing, which is a critical requirement for Task 1. The data reporting is also imprecise; for example, stating 'almost 20 millions jobs' in 1980 is vague, and the description of trends lacks the analytical depth needed for a higher band. To improve, ensure you include a clear summary paragraph that highlights the most significant overall trends and use more precise data points from the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is written as a single paragraph, which hinders logical progression. While there is a basic attempt to sequence the information, the lack of paragraphing makes the text feel cluttered. Cohesive devices are either missing or used in a very mechanical way, such as 'But on the other hand'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between sectors. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction/overview from the body paragraphs and incorporate a wider range of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic meaning but is quite repetitive and limited. There are several spelling errors, such as 'comparision', 'Healtcare', 'Manufactring', 'compaire', and 'Agricultrue'. The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on basic verbs like 'increase' and 'decline'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied synonyms and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuate', 'surpass', or 'downward trend', and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Retail and Agriculture was ate the same stage'), tense inconsistency (e.g., 'Agriculture declinig'), and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with few attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly regarding the use of commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on plurals or incorrect verb forms.
