Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but struggles to accurately report the main features. The description of the trends is often confusing, such as the claim that 'healthcare have least job economy' or the unclear references to 'economy' instead of 'number of jobs'. While the response covers the four sectors, the data interpretation is frequently inaccurate or difficult to follow. The overview is present but lacks the precision required to clearly highlight the key trends, such as the significant growth in healthcare and retail versus the decline in agriculture and manufacturing. To improve, focus on accurately identifying the starting and ending points and describing the overall trajectory of each sector clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression. Paragraphing is inconsistent, and the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'following the line graph' or 'after two decades'. The transition between sentences is frequently abrupt, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data. There is a lack of clear referencing, and the structure of the report does not effectively guide the reader through the information. To improve, use clear linking words to connect ideas and ensure each paragraph has a distinct focus, such as grouping the increasing sectors together and the decreasing sectors together.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often used incorrectly. The student repeatedly uses the word 'economy' when referring to 'jobs' or 'employment numbers', which leads to confusion. Phrases like 'retail had vice versa' and 'retail got very impacted on the united states on breaking the economy' are unnatural and imprecise. There is little evidence of a range of vocabulary suitable for describing trends or data. To improve, learn specific collocations for describing graphs, such as 'experienced a steady decline', 'reached a peak', or 'showed a significant upward trend', and ensure terms are used in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'healthcare have', 'agriculture had decline'), incorrect tense usage, and poor sentence structure. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and misused commas. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences that are often poorly constructed. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice proofreading to correct common errors in tense and pluralization.
