Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some main features, such as the trends in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors, the analysis is incomplete and cuts off abruptly at the end. Because the response is unfinished, you have failed to report on all sectors or provide a comprehensive summary of the data. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories presented in the graph and provide a complete, well-developed overview that meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into an introduction and two short body paragraphs, but the abrupt ending prevents a logical flow. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner, such as 'In detail' and 'Initially'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas between sentences. The paragraphing is present, but the overall structure is incomplete, making it difficult to follow the progression of information. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of transition signals and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete focus that contributes to the overall summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'provides', 'recorded', and 'increased'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'in beginning' instead of 'at the beginning' and 'reduced jobs' instead of 'saw a reduction in jobs'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. There are issues with article usage ('in year 1960' should be 'in the year 1960') and tense consistency. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with little attempt at complex sentences. Some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward, such as 'manufacturing sector provides high number of jobs'. To improve, focus on mastering the use of articles, prepositions, and verb tenses. Furthermore, try to combine simple sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
