Number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US, 1960-2020

Number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US, 1960-2020

Student answer (Band 4.0)

It starts with manufacturing,it doesn’t offer good money in present. The US government doesn’t give attention towards feild of manufacturing cause in 1960 it takes a fair start but in 1980 it reaches to iys top limits and after some time when the 2000s starts it starts falling and today there and ends in 2020 so there is no scope in manufacturing in US.In retail industry there is a good scope for an entrepreneur, cause the government sports it in 1960 its a little bit fair and then in 1980 it started grooming but the 2000s remains very pleasent for this industry because it became a powerful industry and yill date in 2020 there is no more powerful industry then retail. But agricultre is not even fair in 1960 and in 1980 it gets more loss. The 2000s came at the end of this industry and in 2020 its meeta to its end.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words. Furthermore, the content is largely descriptive and relies on subjective commentary (e.g., 'doesn't offer good money', 'very pleasant') rather than objective data reporting. The response fails to provide a clear overview or identify the key trends across the four sectors. It focuses on personal interpretation rather than summarizing the provided graph. The lack of data points and the failure to address all parts of the prompt significantly limit the achievement of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response lacks a logical structure. It is written as a single, dense paragraph that makes it difficult to follow the progression of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas, and the transition between sectors is abrupt. The use of referencing is unclear, and the overall arrangement of information is mechanical and repetitive. The lack of paragraphing and the absence of a clear introduction or summary contribute to a disjointed reading experience.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inappropriate for an academic report. The student uses informal or non-standard phrasing such as 'grooming', 'pleasent', and 'meeta to its end'. There is a lack of precision in describing trends; instead of using standard terminology like 'fluctuated', 'declined', or 'peaked', the student uses vague, non-academic language. The spelling errors (e.g., 'feild', 'iys', 'sports', 'agricultre') further impede the clarity of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement, tense consistency (switching between past and present inappropriately), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'The US government doesn’t give attention towards feild of manufacturing cause in 1960 it takes a fair start'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The range of structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple, error-prone sentences.
