Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you identify some trends, the reporting is inconsistent and lacks clarity. For instance, you mention 'manufacturing' twice with conflicting data points, and the description of the trends is often confusing or inaccurate based on the provided graph. The overview is present but lacks a clear summary of the most significant changes. To improve, ensure you accurately extract data points and provide a more structured comparison between the sectors throughout the period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'Furthermore', they are often used to introduce information that is not clearly linked to the previous sentence. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of your argument. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear focus, leading to a disjointed reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic phrasing such as 'number of jobs' and 'growing by year'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'counting of jobs' instead of 'number of jobs' or 'employment figures', and 'inital year' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more varied and precise terminology related to trends and economic data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The provided chart give', 'manufacturing is also contain') and awkward sentence construction. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are errors in tense usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors causes some difficulty for the reader and prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
